1. Giới thiệu trung thu bằng tiếng Anh:

The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important traditional holiday in my country. Mid-Autumn festival is celebrated not only in Vietnam but also in some other parts of Asia as well, such as China, Japan or Korea. And it is often celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night.

In the past, on this day the moon was brightest and roundest which represented the family reunion or gatherings. Therefore, families and friends often came together or harvested crops for the festival.

Nowadays, Mid Autumn Festival is mainly for young children in Vietnam to enjoy the best time of the year. But not only can children celebrate this day but also adults can, adults who wish to have a chance to remind their their childhood and feel young again.

During this exciting Autumn festival, making masks and lanterns is probably one of many activities that take place. A lot of groups of young Vietnamese have created unique and trendy lanterns yet can still preserve the traditional beauty.

So this reminds me back to the time when I was a little kid and living in the countryside where I could contemplate the most oriental feature of this festival, which is the dragon dancing.

Our little alley was teeming with different teams of dragon dancers. Dragon dancers dance to every household in their village, it is like “treat or trick” in western culture, they will not stop until you give them some lucky money.

And when speaking of Mid-Autumn, we can’t help but to mention the Moon cake. The round shape of the moon cake signifies completeness and reunion of families. Making and sharing mooncake is probably one of the hallmark traditions of this festival. But nowadays, in modern time, making mooncakes has given way to the more popular custom of giving mooncakes to family members.

So I have just introduced to you guys one of the most important and fascinating festival in Vietnam and it is Mid-Autumn festival.

Nhắc tới thời điểm hiện tại, rap nói riêng và văn hóa đường phố nói chung đã tiến một bước xa tại Việt Nam. Xa hơn rất nhiều, kể cả từ phần nghe đến phần nhìn, từ những cộng đồng underground đến các mục đích mang tính thương mại, từ đất nước Việt Nam đến cả thế giới. Được công nhận nhiều hơn, được cả thế hệ trẻ quan tâm – ngưỡng mộ - làm tiêu chí phấn đấu. Thành quả đó đến từ sự cố gắng không ngừng nghỉ, để đạt được hào quang như bây giờ thì có đủ mồ hôi – nước mắt – tủi nhục ( Có nhá, cái thời rap bị dị nghị lắm đấy các bạn trẻ) của nhiều anh chị đi trước và cả những người đang hoạt động bây giờ.

Cách đây chỉ khoảng 5 năm, một con số không quá lớn mà cũng không nhỏ. Chúng ta cũng chẳng nghĩ bao giờ lại có thể được xem những sản phẩm âm nhạc đậm chất thế giới như “No Nê” của Suboi – một người đi trước hay đàn em kế cận cũng không kém với Tlinh với “Gái độc thân”. Xen kẽ ở đó, vẫn có những thứ đậm chất OG và Việt Nam như “Thiên hà trước hiên nhà” của chú Ba Đạt Maniac hay “77 Hide Out” Wavy Session của Sol7, giản dị như Đen Vâu “Trốn tìm”. Tiếp cận dễ dàng hơn với hơi thở của giới trẻ thì những “Jump” của SMO và Lil Wuyn (95G) hay “Walk on da street” của 16Typh, “Thích em hơi nhiều” của Wren Evans hay một chân trời riêng của Táo với 2 ấn phẩm “Blue Tequilla, “Tương Tư”.. (còn rất nhiều mà không kể hết).Nghệ sĩ đường phố đa dạng hơn rất nhiều, họ tỏa sức mạnh không chỉ mỗi rap khi các sản phẩm đến từ graffiti, dancing, pop-art..

Dĩ nhiên, khi nói tới phần “nhìn” (là các MVs) thì mình đang đề cập tới fashion. Thời trang mà các nghệ sĩ rappers đang thể hiện cho chúng ta là vô cùng đa dạng, vô cùng công phu và ngày càng thể hiện được ở nhiều mặt khác nhau. Không phải cứ là rappers là ăn mặc theo kiểu streetwear mà giờ các nghệ sĩ đã “tự chọn” cho mình một hướng đi thời trang riêng để làm sao phù hợp với bản thân, tính cách (personalities) mà họ cảm thấy phù hợp nhất.

Và như tiêu đề

“Rapping điều khiển thời trang
Chứ thời trang không điều khiển rap”

Vì khá nhiều bạn (đa phần là trẻ) đang suy nghĩ rằng “Rapper thì phải ăn mặc như thế này, thế nọ. Phải flexing mới là rappers, mới là nghệ sĩ mà quên béng mất họ cung cấp cho chúng ta sản phẩm âm nhạc chứ không phải là thời trang”. Và đây cũng là con đường hai chiều mà mình từng đề cập – đó là vai trò của các rappers khi đã được xem là 1 “Người có tầm ảnh hưởng”.

Để mình kể về câu chuyện “Rap điều khiển thời trang như thế nào?” cho các bạn nghe nhé.

“Rap is something you do! Hiphop is something you live” / Rap là thứ mà bạn đang làm. Hiphop là thứ mà bạn đang sống. Ông thầy già Lawrence “Kris” Parker (a.k.a KRS-ONE) đã nói như vậy. Trước khi phổ biến và trở thành văn hóa đại chúng như bây giờ thì rap thật sự là đam mê và người ta rap để được “sống”, để được “Being something” – là được công nhận trong thế giới phức tạp này.

Thời trang là do con người tạo ra, theo suy nghĩ cá nhân của mình thì các thương hiệu thời trang là nơi “Khuôn khổ nhất’ để định hình mọi thứ mà con người (Tức là khách hàng của họ) sẽ mặc. Nhà thiết kế thời trang sẽ theo định hướng của công ty chủ quản mà “thi triển” những designs của họ sao cho hợp “xu hướng”, hợp mốt nhất. Nhưng định hình chung nó sẽ khiến mọi thứ trở thành “cứng nhắc” và “nguyên tắc” cho thế giới thời trang này.

Hiphop hay Rap thì khác. Bắt nguồn từ đường phố, mà đường phố là nơi không có luật lệ rõ ràng gì cả. Kẻ mạnh sẽ là kẻ thắng, kẻ thua thì sẽ phải lùi bước. Luôn là như vậy. Hiphop dấn vào thời trang thông qua việc customize (Tùy chỉnh) và mix/match tất cả những thứ gì mà họ đang có. Dapper Dan từ Harlem – là 1 ví dụ điển hình của việc này. Mình đã có bài viết rồi nên các bạn chịu khó tìm kiếm để đọc lại nhé. Từ DIYs đến bootleg, hiphop đã cho thấy một thứ thời trang của văn hóa này không bị điều khiển bởi bất kì ai – không luật lệ, không sợ hãi. Và rapper là những người represent/trình bày thứ thời trang đó với thế giới.

Văn hóa đường phố với một đặc trưng là tạo những thứ mới mẻ dựa trên những gì sẵn có. Vì thế Hiphop luôn fresh, luôn tươi mới và luôn được bơm đầy bởi những cảm hứng, những inspiration bất tận mà hiện tại đang đóng vai trò khá lớn ở nhiều thương hiệu thời trang cao cấp hiện nay. Gần gũi, thực tế mà đa dụng – đây cũng là 1 lí do vì sao streetwear vốn được ảnh hưởng rất nhiều bởi hiphop đã thay đổi cả một nền công nghiệp thời trang thế giới vào những năm 2016-2017.

Rappers – là những người đang diện mạo cho cả nền văn hóa này, nổi tiếng hơn – đại chúng hơn và ảnh hưởng nhiều hơn. Tính cách ngang tàng của hiphop nên được các rappers thể hiện trong thời trang của họ - vốn là hình ảnh của các nghệ sĩ. Khi hiphop hay rap phát triển và được nhiều người quan tâm thì thời trang, phong cách của nó cũng đi lên y chang như vậy.

Từng là đứa con bị “ghẻ lạnh” trong cả cộng đồng lẫn cả thế giới thời trang, hiphop và những nghệ sĩ muốn sử dụng fashion để nói lên tuyên ngôn của họ - để thể hiện sự điều khiển thời trang của mình chứ mình không phải chạy theo nó (Mà hiện tại khá nhiều rappers trẻ đang bán mình vì fashion, not their souls). Những người đi trước đã sử dụng thời trang để phản ánh nhiều hơn về văn hóa Mĩ Phi/ Latin của họ - về sự đoàn kết của những người da màu chống lại sự phân biệt chủng tộc (Mà đó cũng là căn cơ của những ý kiến về việc Chiếm dụng văn hóa gần đây).

Run DMC, 2pac, Biggie.. là những cái tên bắt đầu xướng danh hiphop trong “highend/luxury fashion” khi bên cạnh việc sử dụng các nhãn hàng cao cấp một cách đường phố nhất có thể thì họ cũng present các labels trên trong các ấn phẩm âm nhạc của mình. Nhưng không phải là tôn sùng nó, mà là một minh chứng – một công cụ để thể hiện vị trí và cách mà mình đi lên. Từ những khu ổ chuột đến thành ông trùm ở các khu thương mại, giải trí lớn – đó là cách mà họ “Điều khiển” và “Being a thing” ở xã hội này.

Dẫu rằng ở thời điểm đó, những cái tên lỗi lạc kia chưa là đinh gì với những kẻ da trắng ngồi trong các ngôi đền thời trang. Nhưng nó là nền tảng để những cái tên sau này phát triển và tiếp tục di sản “Điều khiển thời trang” mà thế hệ trước đã tiếp tục. Kanye West, Tyler The Creator, Pharrell William.. đều trở thành những nhà thiết kế thời trang nổi tiếng trên thế giới với ngôn ngữ đường phố của họ. Những cái tên như Travis Scott hay A$AP Rocky, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Kid Cudi.. đều trở thành fashion icon theo một hướng đi riêng – và đặc biệt là “Không bị kiểm soát bởi các nhãn hàng lớn” vì sự ảnh hưởng của họ, và đúng rồi! Đó là cái tôi của “Rap”, của “Hiphop”.

Dù ở thời điểm hiện tại thì streetwear không còn nóng bỏng như ngày xưa, nhưng nó chẳng là gì so với một quá trình dài khẳng định bản thân và đưa sự điều khiển của mình của hiphop tới nền công nghiệp thời trang. Và mình xin nhắc lại về tiêu đề
