Pictures from Friday! It was solo parenting for the day because Alvin couldn’t apply leave. We started with fun at the playground at 8am followed by McDonald’s for breakfast. We also visited my parents, more playground fun before I took them home for their naps. When they woke, gave them their tea break before I took out the stroller and told them we are heading out!! They accompanied me to the shopping mall for my spectacles fitting before we hopped onto 2 trains to meet Papa. While waiting for Papa to finish work, the children ran freely on the grass at Raffles Place, had a go on the swing, people-watch and when they got a little too crazy for me, I took out the snacks! Snacks always work 😛 When Papa joined us, we took a walk together to the Merlion, it was the kids’ first time there!
We were blessed with beautiful weather! The sun shone down fiercely and I was perspiring profusely everywhere! I couldn’t be bothered about how I look anymore, I had my hair all tied up. But it was so much fun, just the 3 of us and seeing the smiles on their faces, I will do it again in a heartbeat!

Happy 56th birthday, Singapore! 🇸🇬
We didn't do anything fanciful today but instead stayed home to have an intimate family celebration. It was a day that I needed because truth be told, I am still trying to mend the pieces and move on slowly but surely.
The kids and I woke up to catch the ceremonial parade together and then my parents came over for lunch. We ordered nasi lemak for takeaway and spent the afternoon looking through my childhood pictures and all the pictures of popo that I compiled (I did it over the past few nights when I couldn't sleep). We talked about the past, talked about her final days, I told my parents about my regrets and guilt, we talked about death - something which we have never done so - but not in a morbid way. In fact, I was thankful to find out what they would like us to do for them when the day comes. The topics were heavy, but in a sense, the chats allowed me to process my grief and loss a little better and I know we are all in it together.
My dad and I then took the kids to the playground and bought bubble tea before we headed home to watch Mr Unbelievable and ate a simple steamboat dinner prepared by the hubby. We managed to take this photo before calling it a night because I now realise more than ever on how pictures are priceless and can mean so much to me.
Thank you, Singapore, for giving me this home and family that I love so much. I'm always so proud to be a part of you. ❤
We did it before, and we'll do it again.

Our next nature walk brought us to Hampstead Wetlands Park, woohoo!
Despite the hot weather, it was nice to take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk and nature trail as we admired the flora and fauna. We saw turtles, ducks, spiders, dragonflies, snails, birds, ants and more.
It took us less than 40min to complete the trail as the park is not huge at just over three hectares. The highlight of the day was discovering a spot where there were plenty of saga seeds to pick as this is something that the kids have always enjoyed. Yup, I guess our collection of 相思豆 is gonna get bigger and bigger.
We also stopped by the the aeroplane themed playground at the Oval, which is in Seletar Aerospace Park, and the kids had a good time on the saucer swing and spiral slide.
Just before we left, we played a game of human 飞行棋 (Aeroplane Chess) although it was scorching hot in the early afternoon by then. My phone had run out of battery at that point but perhaps it was also a good reminder for me to put away the device once in a while so that I can truly be present and enjoy the most of the moment with my little ones.
Have a happy week ahead, people! ❤

2012年7月29日/Y:0歳9ヶ月/R:3歳2ヶ月 We went out to the local park to play in whole family on that day.
The mom prepared for a lunch.
Larger than the park playing always, this park has a lot of nature.
We decided to eat lunch after playing in the playground, take a little walk in the park.
However, our plan was failure.
This park was larger than expected.
We could not lose our way, but have taken time to come back.
Also, it was very hot on that day, and there was temperature more than 30 degrees, and children might lose physical strength.
They are very patient, Rino was always running around, and Yuuma slept comfortably.
We do not know how far we walked, but we finally arrived in the parking lot.
We bought each favorite juice.
We were tired very much on that day, but enjoyed it very very much.

sam neua city (ซำเหนือ)
Xam Neua (ຊຳເໜືອ [sám nɨ̌a]; sometimes transcribed as Sam Neua or Samneua; literally "northern swamp") is the capital city of Houaphan Province, Laos, located in the northeast of the country. Xam Neua is one of the country's least visited provincial capitals.
Residents are mostly Lao, Vietnamese and Hmong, along with some Thai Dam, Thai Daeng and Thai Lu.
Several guesthouses are located in Xam Neua. While many people in Xam Neua have had little or no contact with Caucasians - or foreigners in general - the guesthouses and restaurants have postings/menus in English. There are two flights into and out of the Xam Neua airport each day.
Xam Neua is located in a valley in the Houaphan Province. In the early morning hours women wash clothes in the river flowing through the city. An elementary school is located near the main bridge crossing this river. At 5:45 am and pm each day there are public addresses from loudspeakers atop a tower on the school playground, expounding on the communist life and philosophy. These addresses are usually accompanied by Lao music. It is reputed there is a Communist re-education center located in Xam Neua.
