【本週の東東週記】總需要一點儀式感的活動
本週六參加了有點「儀式感」〈廣播金鐘獎〉。
前兩年都是以觀禮嘉賓參與,今年是以入圍者參與,感覺不太一樣。也因為疫情的關係,本次不開放親友團參加,都是入圍者、相關人士和工作人員為主,因此坐得寬敞舒服但也稍嫌冷清,且前排沒得獎的朋友很快就回家了,視野遼闊(咦)。相較前兩年,典禮節目也顯得簡單、迅速且咻咻咻,才半個小時就快頒完一半獎項!
之前的「遇見設計」做久了好幾年,覺得設計應該是要為大眾創造美好生活,所以在今年開了〈美好生活提案所〉,本次雖然沒有得獎,但能夠入圍年度生活風格類的TOP 5已經覺得榮幸,原本做廣播就不是以得獎為目標,所以沒有得失心,之後也不會為了要得獎而改變(電台表示流汗),還是會任性地只做想做的節目內容,也不會有業配,哈哈。
只是在揭曉前有點緊張,擔心萬一得獎了,能不能順利的不看稿而能在90秒把得獎感言沒有疏漏的講完(為何要逼死自己?)。
為了有點儀式感,認識15年的髮型設計師IMA很有義氣的說要幫我準備妝髮,Sang還準備了西裝讓我挑,還有22 STUDIO提供手錶,同事來幫忙拍照,所以儀式感的LOOK在此謝謝大家,節目也會繼續做下去,大家有空可以收聽喔(也有PODCAST)!(完)

Fresh new haircuts…oh well, it’s not really a cut, but more like a trim! Fatimah and Ali both had their last trim somewhere last year during the lockdown by their Lalajee @theomarmukhtar. Yes, they are both beyond blessed to have a big brother who is super talented and good at multitasking - bless him!
But this year, we’ve been extremely busy with the reno work at #TheOldForgeCottage 🏡 since the beginning of the year plus the extended lockdown, hence their hair has been left overgrown ever since. They both have been waiting since last year for their Dadijee (grandma) to come over to give them a haircut but since the pandemic they have been kept waiting and waiting and still no luck till now. 😢💔 But luckily someone came to the rescue to give them a haircut and heal their broken hearts - all thanks to @drauntie.uk for the trim!
May these little things that we do for our children stamp not only good memories for them but also add on love and affection. Hopefully one day they will look back and see how much love they had growing up in our home…
This is our little family tradition. Most of the time we will cut our children’s hair at home. Unless it’s a more complicated cut or to change the hairstyle only then will we go to the salon. Even my sisters and I, we still look forward to have our hair trimmed by our mother even until now. It’s always one of the things that I look forward to every year whenever my mother comes over to visit - to get her magic touch on my hair even if it’s just only a lil’ trim - priceless!! 🥰
And now I am even more blessed that I have not only my husband - Mr Dad - who always helped to cut my hair especially when I’m not well and unable to go out of the house…but now I also have my eldest son @theomarmukhtar who will happily give me a trim and also my sister @drauntie.uk who just gave me a trim yesterday. May Allah bless you all for taking care of me…

Hi curlfriends! I'm sure you've been at that point where you're over your braids and want a different look, right? Taking them down is not your only option! Shorten your braids or twists by cutting them. Allow me to show you how to do that yourself by watching this tutorial. It's super easy and doesn't take long! Note: If you have braids or twists with regular kanekalon hair, use a lighter or flat iron over the area you wish to cut, BEFORE you cut it. This applies especially to big size braids, otherwise it's all going to unravel on you and we don't want that, do we? :D

For this video, we went down to Wolfgang’s Steakhouse at Robertson Quay to savour a $1000 Steak Mukbang! Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, founded by Wolfgang Zweiner, specialises in 28-day dry-aged USDA Prime Black Angus Steak served in an upscale setting. Their steak is aged in their in-store dry-aging room and USDA Prime grading refers to the highest possible steak grade given by the US authorities. Dry-aging is a process where meat is placed in a controlled environment (temperature and humidity) to enhance the flavour profile and texture, creating a deep, “meaty” flavour. The ambience is exceptional with a clear view of the Singapore River, high ceilings, an expansive bar and mahogany flooring.
For my mukbang, I ordered a Porterhouse for Four ($382), Rib Eye Steak ($148), Filet Mignon ($125), Onion Rings ($20), Lobster Mac N’ Cheese ($30) and Cream of Corn ($17). For dessert, I got Key Lime Pie ($17). To pair with the steak, I also requested for a bottle of red wine. The star of the show was the enormous porterhouse steak, served on a blistering hot plate that was previously under a broiler. It contained the best of both worlds, a divinely tender filet mignon and a sumptuously flavourful strip steak. Still affixed to the bone, the whole piece was probably around 2KG of dry-aged goodness. Thanks to the dry aging process, the meat truly encapsulated the signature deep “meaty” flavour that dry aging is known for with the tenderness to match.
As for the sides, the Lobster Mac N’ Cheese never fails to impress. Whipped up with 3 types of cheeses and filled with large chunks of lobster, the side was not overpowering or too heavy as it can tend to be. It was elegantly balancing right on the precipice of too much and too little in terms of flavour. I also had my favourite dessert, Key Lime Pie. It was similarly well-balanced and I could rich notes of the condensed milk used in the batter and the fragrance of lime. The crust was a delicate biscuit base that gave some bite to the soft interior of the pie.
It will come to no surprise that this was a thoroughly enjoyable mukbang for me. The food was stellar from the wonderful dry-aged steak to the sides and dessert. Pairing the meal with an excellent glass of wine only elevated it even further. However, as I ate with Mervin, I underestimated his capacity and realised that I could have eaten significantly more. I look forward to attempting a greater challenge in the future with Wolfgang’s Steakhouse. If you are looking for a classy atmosphere, ridiculously good food and drinks to match, look no further than Wolfgang’s Steakhouse. Do head over there, especially for special occasions for your loved ones. They deserve this treat!
