Meeting Mr Sak at His Garden Office
Upon arriving at Bangkot international airport, my partner in Thailand, Lukman, drove me to meet Mr Sak, an influential business man cum investor (as well as business and community coach). We spent almost 3 hours going through many issues and ideas at his garden office.
Put aside the business proposal that we are bringing to him, he was so passionate to share what he has discovered when he traveled extensively in the last 6 months in many parts of the world. His disovery is mind-bogling to him and us.
Admittedly, he confessed that if he were to be adamant of his great legacy, he will be irrelevant in no time. Things have changed significantly. Many forms of doing business (and that include business textbooks and professorial lectures) are out of context.
Now, he wanted to focus on three verticals that are (new) education sillabus to prepare for the future, business transformation and investment and funding. He was firm that all of these are interconnected and cant be taken in silo. His new tagline is ecosystem enterprise focussing on PPP (people, profit and planet).
He mentioned about his new investment in looking at how to transform SMEs in a manner which is cheaper and faster i.e. sharing economy. This will be a new revolution. What intrigued me is his deep observation - based on big data and A.I. - is that many SMEs succumed to failure due to not enough money, no technology capacity and bad marketing (and distribution). I cant agree more. SMEs need help on all of these.
Towards the end of the meeting and perspectives sharing, I realised that humans can learn by looking at each other experience. Sometimes, you need to listen to others more to unlock your own potential. Mr Sak just did that. Now, he is more impactful. I also realised that he and I shared the share area of interest that is A.I. Not bad a concidence (and a choice of new hobby) at our age.
Just before the sunset, Lukman and I rushed for our late lunch and early dinner at 7pm local time. A clear tom yam sup at one of the best restautants in the area of 'Pattani village' in Bangkok was a good moment to digest all the heavy loaded insights from Mr Sak.

3 tahun lepas, datang ke sini, 4 hari ke hulu ke hilir nak cari Tom yam yg paling best di Bangkok ni.Si Samat ni lah yg bawa kiteorng dgn taxi dia.hampir give up jugak lah dia, mana tak nya dia bawa ke hampir 10 restoren muslim di Bangkok semuanya saya reject sbb tak kene dgn citarasa Tom yam yg betul2 padu.
.
Sekali bila nk balik otw ke airport tu, singgah lah lagi 1 satu restoren muslim di Bangkok ni, sekali si Samat ni lah yg tolong serve kan tom yam utk kitaorang.Mak ai bila rasa tom yam tu memang sedap giler n tak pernah lagi rasa tom yam yg kaw, masam, pedas, berlemak dan smua cukup lah rasanya.

Biar betul ko masak ni Samat.Kalau betul ko tunjuk kat aku cara masak, terus masuk ke dapur minta dia masak lagi sekali.Dasyat… memang betul dia masak dan rasanya sama sebijik yg mula2 tadi tu.

.
