Acrylic on canvas
152 by 250 cm
𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘀 is the first painting that I created for the exhibition. It is also the largest painting in the series. Inspired by two adjacent streets in Sham Shui Po: Ki Lung Street and Tai Nan Street, I depict the disappearing streetscape of the old district. Because of a new policy, most of the hand-written calligraphic signboards in those streets were taken down in the past few years.
The signboard cityscape has inspired my overlapping, geometric pattern in my works. It is also my first piece to bring my watercolour technique to acrylic — I want to keep the transparent and transient qualities of my watercolour, which tell my impressions of Hong Kong streets.
接下黎嘅時間,等我逐一介紹下今次展品背後的創作理念...

pattern painting on canvas 在 Louis Vuitton Facebook 的最佳貼文
Did you know that in 2009, the Red Cross celebrates 150 years of internationally renowned savoir-faire in humanitarian aid? To commemorate the event, Louis Vuitton has crafted a limited-edition Red Cross Kit.
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Red Cross, a movement initiated on the battlefield of Solférino in 1859, Louis Vuitton has created the Boîte Spéciale Croix-Rouge. The hard-sided case in Monogram canvas, equipped with Louis Vuitton's signature natural leather handle, brass S-lock and corners, opens frontally to reveal an array of red and grey aluminium medicine boxes arranged in such a way as to form the familiar emblem of the Red Cross. The logo of the Red Cross is hand-painted on the front of the case.
“WHEN REFLECTING UPON OUR COLLABORATION WITH THE RED CROSS, IT CAME TO MY MIND TO CREATE A SPECIAL RED CROSS KIT. THE COMPILATION OF THE RED AND SILVER ALUMINIUM BOXES TO FORM A RED CROSS ON THE INSIDE ALONG WITH THE PAINTING OF THE LOGO ON THE OUTSIDE MAKE IT VISUALLY IMPACTFUL AND A TRULY UNIQUE PIECE.”
— PATRICK-LOUIS VUITTON
“WHEN LOUIS VUITTON, THE WORLD-FAMOUS COMPANY, INFORMED US OF ITS AMBITION TO REPRODUCE THE ORIGINAL FIRST AID KIT, INSPIRED BY
THE 1914 PATTERN, WE WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THE RESULT. THE FINAL DESIGN IS SUPERB: WITH ITS PURE AESTHETICS, IT HAS THE
HIGHEST SYMBOLIC VALUE, REPRESENTING THE POWER OF ITS RED CROSS.”
— OLIVIER BRAULT,
MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE FRENCH RED CROSS
