We finally got to try House Of Kueh SG after hearing so much about them! What makes their soon kueh special is that they steam the skin batter on a special steamer instead of shaping the dough by hand, making their soon kueh skin very thin and silky smooth!

Besides the classic soon kueh, they also have the spinach version which comes with bamboo shoot and pork, and the new kimchi pork filling which tastes similar to bulgogi. Each delicate soon kueh is generously stuffed and my favourite is the kimchi pork version which burst in flavour with every bite.

We paired the soon kueh with their signature Penang prawn noodles. The owner is from Penang so you can expect thick and robust prawn broth with full-bodied shrimp aroma.

On Wednesdays, they also serve delicious White Curry Mee which comes with springy noodles bathed in a creamy curry broth. The magic happens when you mix the ingredients with a scoop of their chilli paste.

Among all the dishes I tried, I liked the Penang Pork Noodles best. Penang version is different from KL-style. The pork bone soup was flavourful, very 'ching' & sweet with the mee hoon soaking in the porky goodness of the soup. 🍖🍜

My Pork Noodles comes with mixed pork slices, minced pork patty & meatballs too. You'll definitely enjoy the freshness of the pork as they seasoned it with tapioca powder & meat tenderizer to give it extra softness.🥰🥰

Well, as for the Authentic Penang White Curry Mee, it was cukup lemak in a sweet & creamy santan broth comes with unique pork blood, fresh cockles, pork ball, brown cuttlefish & taufu pok. Penang-style White Curry Mee lets you add your chilli paste to your liking & of course the more the spicier la & also it enhances the flavour of the dish. 🌶️🍜

The Char Kuey Teow also quite good too ~ Full Of Wok Hei, not oily & comes with a generous portion of Taugeh. 😉😉

For this episode, we embarked on an EPIC CHEAT DAY where I LOST MY ABS IN 6 HOURS! Steven, a long-time friend and semiregular guest star, suggested that we should head over to the East side of Singapore for a cheat day as there are many malls in close proximity there. Beginning at Tampines 1 and ending at Waterway Point, I ate 12 dishes from 4 different malls, resulting in a massive 7-inch increase in waist circumference.

It was a hard push towards the end, evident from my extremely distended midsection. My normally visible abdominals gave way to a turgid and swollen belly. However, it allowed me to satisfy my cravings in between my usually strict dieting between shoots. I was pleased with Steven’s choice of malls as they had good selections of food and drinks while mostly being walking distance from one another.
