The historic Central Library Goodhue building was constructed in 1926 and is a Downtown Los Angeles landmark. It received the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation's highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to the community.

The original Los Angeles Central Library with designed with influences of ancient Egyptian and Mediterranean Revival architecture. The central tower is topped with a tiled mosaic pyramid with suns on the sides with a hand holding a torch representing the "Light of Learning" at the apex. Other elements include sphinxes, snakes, and celestial mosaics.

The interior of the library is decorated with various figures, statues, chandeliers, and grilles, notably a four-part mural by illustrator Dean Cornwell depicting stages of the History of California which was completed around 1933.[18] The building is a designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

丨溫哥華，隨性逛逛丨
橫跨 50℃ 之旅 Day 18
前幾次來溫哥華，都有租車，這回短暫停留，反而有機會住在市區。
我們住的飯店，是浪漫的維多利亞風格，溫暖舒適，早上下了些雨，晚晚出門，來到步行五分鐘的煤氣鎮 (Gastown)、蒸汽鐘附近。
每回到溫哥華，一定會吃只有北美才道地的加州捲壽司。
雖然名為加州捲，但其實發源地為溫哥華，將壽司反轉，一定有酪梨、小黃瓜，魚類則是生的、熟的各種食材，非常華麗又美味。(不過，在溫哥華就較少看到稱之加州捲。)
午後，在 VPL (Vancouver Public Library) 混了一下午，這裡中文書很多，竟然有好幾本描寫古巴的書，還沉醉在哈瓦那的幻化美好之中，當然好好地翻看了一遍。
晚上去吃了陣 Jinya 拉麵。旅行那麼久，吃了那麼多西式食物，在溫哥華終於可以盡情地享用亞洲料理。
我受到全聯福利中心及全聯善美的文化藝術基金會的邀請，參加了一個非常特別的元宵文化活動，從中我學到了有關乞龜文化的知識，以及「知道感恩」在這個文化活動中是多麼重要！
這活動不僅有趣好玩，而且具有教育意義，我也有機會在公開場合、在電視上接受中文採訪！這是一次讓人難以忘懷的經歷，也讓我開始思考我怎麼才能回報這個幫助我這麼多的國家
I was invited by PX Mart and their charity Sunmake Cultures Foundation to take part in a very special cultural event for Lantern Festival where I could learn all about the Begging Turtle Culture and how being able to repay those who looked after you is so important in this culture.
Not only was it lots of fun as well as educational, but I also had the chance to be interviewed in Chinese, in public...on TV! It was an incredibly memorable experience and made me think about how I could possibly ever repay Taiwan for the way the country has looked after me.
