今天(9/5)是Queen主唱Freddie Mercury的75歲冥誕, 這個樂團的圖騰就是出自他老人家的手筆, 這位在Ealing Art College取得藝術與圖形設計學士學位的音樂人牛刀小試, 以黃道宮十二星座的元素來代表四個團員, 其中節奏組的貝斯手John Deacon與鼓手Roger Taylor都是熱情的獅子座, 所以成為扶持Q(就是Queen)的雙獅, 上面歇息者感性的巨蟹座吉他手Brian May, 然後Freddie Mercury在下方擺上兩位少女來象徵自己處女座的吹毛求疵.
鳳凰與王冠則是仿效英國皇家徽章(Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom)的概念, 這個組合既然想在英國女皇轄下英倫三島揚名立萬, 企圖跟英國人愛戴的王室攀親帶故示好是很合理的, 處女座龜毛是龜毛, 然不分男女, 他(她)們想務實也可以很務實(現實?)
這裡不戰星座, 會對處女座有這樣中肯的評論完全是感同身受的親身經歷, 我太太跟Freddie Mercury生日就只差一天, 所以我懂, 而且是真的懂
7/19是Queen的吉他手Brian May的生日， 今天滿74歲的壽星除了是位非常傑出的音樂家，這位畢業於Imperial College London的學者在學術界的成就也是令人敬重，身為天體物理學博士的他論文就是針對黃道塵的運行方向和行星繞行太陽的方向進行研究，Brian May對寓教於樂(這裡要念ㄩㄝˋ可能更貼切，因為我指的是音樂)很有使命感，這首由他創作收錄在A Night At The Opera中的39就是很好的跨界融合的範例
歌詞的背景是敘述因為地球宜人居的地方越來越少，勇敢的志願者為人類找尋能移民之星球而向太空探險，沒有煽情的依依不捨，不過淡淡憂傷的旋律依然述說著淒美，這是相對論中時間擴張(Time Dilation)的理論，於Year 39出發的探險隊回來後時地球已經過了百年的時間，在這人事全非的時空，只能在孫子的眼裏追溯並懷念愛人的神采。
狹義相對論指出，運動速度越快的物體，它的時間就過得越慢。這是相對於靜止的物體而言，移動較快的物體相較於移動較慢者，時間過得比較慢，對人而言就是比較不易變老。時間的計算公式大家用Google就找的到，只是這麼抽象的概念是不是用唱的比較能雅俗共賞? 而且歌詞還這麼不艱深喔

歐洲最美圖書館與哈利波特取景地：愛爾蘭都柏林大學聖三一學院圖書館
都柏林大學聖三一學院成立於1592年，正式名稱為College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin（都柏林附近伊莉莎白女王神聖和不可分割的三一學院），由英國女王伊莉莎白一世創辦和頒授特許，至今已有400多年歷史，是愛爾蘭最古老的大學，也是不列顛及愛爾蘭七所古典大學之一。走進圖書館有條壯闊的60公尺長廊，而長廊左右邊放置知名哲學及作家大理石雕像，而圖書館全是以橡木材質做為書架，架上的書籍都是非常珍貴的手稿還有包含古老的工藝品，共達20萬件的古老的作品。
館內最著名的手稿之一是《凱爾斯書：走出黑暗，開啟光明》（The Book of Kells: Turning Darkness into Light），手稿內容是以拉丁文書寫在牛皮紙上的四福音書。這份手稿每年就吸引了超過50萬名遊客。長廳裡收藏著其中一把愛爾蘭最古老的豎琴。追溯到15世紀，橡木豎琴是當時愛爾蘭的典型象徵。
