Teamwork makes the Dream work! Production wrapped on my first sports series, and I could not say Thank You enough.
Cast of Actors and Cheerleaders, thank you for taking point position, and always going All Stunts Up regardless of how tired you were. Your performances are worthy of a 2000-packed stadium going “ASU!"
Camera Unit (#TeamShooter), you guys are legends. Never a time was there an impossible scene to shoot, or a shot too difficult to execute. Plus you guys hav telepathy… it is amazeballs!
Tech Crew, both in SG & MY, Thank you for your efficiency. Your support in lighting and sound at lightning quick speed, allowed us to complete our extremely tight and crazy filming schedule ON TIME, with ZERO scenes dropped!
My Assistant Directors. (Bridge Personnel) WanWan, @natashajalen & Yen, for stepping up to hold the fort when things went sideways. And @roypaulinus, for doing most of the leg work and helping on the SG shoot.
Casting Department, thank you for putting together and organising the cast. Never an easy task coordinating schedules and still making it work.
#Art Department. Thanks for putting up with my occasional bursts of inspiration with your resourcefulness and creativity.
Wardrobe & MakeUp Unit (AKA #TeamUnicorn), thank you for adding character to the characters, and you are always welcome on the Bridge.
The wonderful Production Team, who were constantly on the ground taking care of everyone, and making sure the shoot had all the back end support and welfare it needed to sustain the journey. Production Team took the biggest hit during the illness saga with almost 90% of the team infected. Regardless, by the end, the team became bigger and stronger. Thank you for your sacrifice and hard work.
Finally, big thanks to The (real) Wildcards Cheerleading Team for lending us their brand and support for the shoot. Special shoutout to our onsite Cheer Consultant Nigel & Coach Jasmine, for the wonderful choreography and coordination.
Great work Everybody! Thank you for allowing me to lead you on this #Cheerific journey. This ship is docking, and off we go into Post-Production. Tango Yankee... Doodle Doo. Bridge is offline. Alaric out.

無論是Mista Sinista's "Catch The Beat"還是我的 "Welcome To The Terrordome",這些經典的段子都給我們帶來無與倫比的實質感,超越了Serato基本功能帶給的一切。

As we stand on the cusp of the 2019 NAMM Convention, it's hard not to appreciate how DJ technology continues to evolve with each passing year. Today, "DJs" can mix and scratch at the press of a button. Technical skills that took yesteryear's DJ painstaking time to advance, can be acquired in an instant. The mental resourcefulness from DJs like Cash Money to reposition a turntable (i.e. "battle mode") in order to remove it's tone arm from obstructing their hand movement towards the turntable's platter is gradually being phased out of DJ art. Technology is altering the way we think to the point we don't need to. Computer coders do the discerning for us, feeding DJ culture gizmos that discourage critical thinking. Talk about game changing. DJ apps and controllers are antiquating the turntable right before our eyes.
As a 35 year vet, I can confidently say, the perks of digital DJing do come at a cost. If you own a Controller but never experienced what it feels like to DJ on turntables, this is the time to ask yourself the following 3 questions:
1. "Am I looking at my laptop screen to confirm the bpm of two songs are matched before introducing a mix?
2. "Do I favor my sense of sight over my sense of hearing to perform a task such as basic as dropping?"
3. "Can I Beat Juggle without using cue points to reset myself at 12 O'clock?"
You might want to reconsider your desire to get hold of every shiny, new piece of gadgetry pushed upon you by these tech companies if you answered YES to even one of those questions.
Learning how to mix by ear and scratch by hand bring with it benefits that are immeasurable. Whether it's Mista Sinista's "Catch The Beat" or my "Welcome To The Terrordome", such classic routines bring with them a texture that's unrivaled by anything we've concocted since the advent of Serato. In fact, the DJ apps and fancy shmancy mixers we use today merely serve as a means for refining the skills both of us have previously attained back when we were "limited" to using vinyl.
Don't mistake me y'all. I believe in technology, I completely support it, but never to the extent that I'll let a computer coder or a mixer's firmware dictate the boundaries of my creativity.

What did we get up to yesterday?
We were at the grocery store passing by the jello section and Ella Grace asked if we could make "jellyfish" to play so of course #kacaumama said YES! 😂🎉
***
SENSORY MATERIALS
- Konnyaku jelly fish/stars/blob
- Basil seeds (selasih)
- Warm or ice water
- Chopstick tongs and spoons
***
KONNYAKU JELLY
We made the "fish" and "stars" out of Konnyaku jelly without the sugar, just water w a few drops of food coloring.
We like Konnyaku jelly because it's extra rubbery. You can also use agar-agar, jello, or pudding. If your little is still mouthing, I would supervise closely as this texture while edible, can be a choking hazard. 😅
***
SENSORY SPACE
While it set, Ella Grace took a nap and when she got up, it was nice and cool out on our patio so we decided to do our sensory outside! 😍
Her "sensory table" is really just a tub on a bench. You can also do it on the floor w a shower curtain or towels underneath. Bringing it up higher just makes it more comfortable.
Teach your little to keep the material within the tub. Consistently reinforcing this will really help. Be patient and redirect that we "keep the water in the tub" "fishes stay in the box" etc. Ella Grace could follow these instructions as young as under-1 so trust your little.
***
BASIL SEEDS
Basil seeds or 'selasih' like they are locally known is an awesome sensory table addition. They start out as seeds then expand and become little squishy tadpole looking things.
Super fun to watch the littles play w it. You can also use a little fishing net for them to scoop them up and smush it!
Biodegradable, natural, easily available and cheap too!
***
WARM/ICE WATER
For an extra sensory experience, you can add either warm water or ice water into the tub just to add another dimension. Ella Grace chose warm yesterday and it felt really good in the cool rainy evening breeze!
***
PLAY
The only rules Ella Grace has at her sensory table is that her sensory materials stay in her box. Other than that, she has the freedom to explore, pour, squish, smush, experiment. There is no right or wrong and we allow space for her imagination to go wild!
Learning through play is a beautiful thing, she learns to make connections and discovers the world around through her senses and it fosters independence, resourcefulness, curioustiy and creativity!
Just step back, make space, and enjoy!
Xx
