The 2020 Golden Horse Film Festival, set to run 5-22 Nov., will open with 2 Taiwanese films -- CLASSMATE MINUS (同學麥娜斯) by THE GREAT BUDDHA+ (大佛普拉斯)'s Hsin-Yao HUANG 黃信堯, and LEG (腿) by writer-turned-director Yao-Sheng CHANG 張耀升.
Both films were executive produced and shot by Mong-Hong CHUNG 鍾孟宏, aka Nagao Nakashima 中島長雄. Chung previously collaborated with both directors, serving as DP for BUDDHA and director for A SUN, for which Chang shared screenwriting credits.
#ClassmateMinus (同學麥娜斯) is Hsin-Yao HUANG's 2nd narrative feature, inspired from his 2005 doc short 唬爛三小. It's the story of 4 middle-aged men who were classmates, their friendship and the struggles they face in life. Starring: Jen-Shuo Cheng 鄭人碩, Yu-Chih Lin 納豆, Kuan-Ting Liu 劉冠廷 & Ming-Shuai Shih 施名帥.
#Leg (腿) is the directorial debut of novelist/screenwriter Yao-Sheng CHANG. Billed as a dark rom-com, it stars Tony Yang 楊祐寧 & Lun-Mei Gui 桂綸鎂 as a married couple who loves ballroom dancing, and explores the meaning of love & loss through the search of an amputated leg following a surgery-gone-wrong.
