In my 2nd year in college, my art history professor gave me a B in my mid-term exam. The exam was in essay format and I felt I had sufficient supporting reasons that my answer should deserve an A instead of B. So I decided I should find a way to have a conversation with the professor to defend my points. For this matter, I decided to speak to him privately as I felt that’s the way to pay each other respect. I waited outside the professor’s office patiently everyday, not until a week later he finally had time to see me. I made my point and he made his point too, we both listened to each other patiently & objectively. Actually my answer really was wrong, but I had so much factual references to support my answer too. He acknowledged my point and at the end he changed my grade to A-. I wasn’t sure what exactly made him change my grade from B to A-, he didn’t say. Perhaps because I was able to validate my point to support my answer, or maybe because of my patience, persistence and stood up for myself while paying full respect to him.
Now when I look back at this, I think even if my method didn’t work and he decided not to change my grade, or didn’t bother to take anytime to see me, I know I’ve done my best and therefore I would have no regrets. __________________________________________________________ #sharemystory #noregrets #speakupwithrespect #無悔
