美台今日舉辦「婦女生計債券案」記者會，「婦女生計債券」將用來協助印尼、印度、菲律賓及其他亞洲國家約17.5至18.5萬名弱勢婦女及女性企業家取得銀行貸款、市場產銷管道及可負擔的生活必需品，提升當地婦女生計並實現其經濟潛力。台美就婦女生計債券的合作，凸顯台美的全球區域夥伴關係，也具體展現雙方就區域發展的共同理念。「婦女生計債券案」也支持「台美經濟繁榮夥伴」的合作目標，共同推動婦女賦權。行政院政務委員鄧振中、外交部長吳釗燮、國合會秘書長項恬毅及AIT處長酈英傑記者會，美國國際開發總署(USAID)代理助理署長彼德拉 (Javier Piedra)、美國國際開發金融公司(DFC)全球婦女議題執行董事華勒絲(Charity Wallace)、新加坡「社會效益投資公司」(IIX)投資長雷比爾(Robert Kraybill)以預錄影片方式與會。

A joint press conference was held today at the Executive Yuan to announce U.S.-Taiwan Cooperation on Women’s Livelihood Bond (WLB). The WLB Series will support approximately 175,000 to 185,000 underserved women and female entrepreneurs in Indonesia, India, the Philippines, and other Asian countries, providing local women with access to credit, market linkages, and affordable goods and services, helping them to build sustainable livelihoods and reach their full economic potential. U.S.-Taiwan cooperation in the WLB highlights our regional and global partnership and exemplifies our shared views on development in the region. The WLB also supports the U.S.-Taiwan Economic Prosperity Partnership, which recognizes women’s economic empowerment as a cross-cutting issue that we will jointly promote in all areas of our cooperation. Minister John C.C. Deng, Minister Joseph Wu, Secretary General Timothy Hsiang of TaiwanICDF, and AIT Director Brent Christensen attended today’s event. Javier Piedra, Acting Assistant Administrator for Asia of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Charity Wallace, Managing Director of Global Women’s Issues at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), and Robert Kraybill, Chief Investment Officer of Impact Investment Exchange (IIX), participated via pre-recorded videos.
