This past year’s global situation has allowed me to fully revisit the tennis world and coach regularly again.
It has been a decade since I have worked with such an expansive pool of students. At the time, I taught and trained both children and adults ranging from the ages of 5-60, levels ranging from novice to advanced, but mostly children and teenagers.
However, a couple of years ago I did take a hiatus from showbiz and acting in China as I had the opportunity to work and travel with a professional tennis player. It was a very rewarding, yet challenging experience, to say the least.
Many people have asked me why I do not just coach and train players completely full time. I usually just smile and and brush it off with a tactful “I don’t know.”
The truth is, I have had an extreme love-hate relationship with the game.
Growing up, the time spent on court not only acted as a healthy environment where I can progress as a player and a person, but it also acted as an escape from the difficult emotional and psychological roller coaster on the home front (I will not go into this now).
Looking back, I am so grateful to have been surrounded by coaches, from places such as India and Eastern Europe, whom understood the value of teaching and mentoring with a “school of hard knocks’ approach. They continuously reminded me that:
“There will always be people in situations worse off than you. Back home, players were playing on courts made from cow dung and with holes in their shoes, not to mention wondering when their next full meal would be.”
Though I don’t think I can honestly say that I fully understood them at the time, but these reminders and perspectives acted as the rock that kept me from drifting away.
So, this is where I am coming from in terms of my relationship with tennis. 2020 has been a blessing in disguise, as I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people, both on and off the court.

“You wrote a book? Who's going to read it?" When asked by the 3-time U.S. Olympic Team Trials qualifier, Caitlin, I was speechless for a moment.
I met Caitlin (well, she caught me on the trail) back in 2016 when I was running 2:45~2:50 marathons, making me an absolutely perfect training partner for her. She was way faster than I was during that time, and I literally learned the race "Olympic Trials" from her. If you listen to how she described the race, you almost think it's just another Boston Marathon.
"Yeah I ran it in 2012, and I qualified again." Caitlin called herself a sub-elite runner, making me wondering if I can call myself as a sub-sub-sub-elite?
Anyway, in 2019 she ran Boston with 2:40:27, making her 3rd qualifier in 8 years. After Boston I got to take a long rest because she also did the same, until 2020 Olympic Trials is around the corner.
"Hey Jay, you wanna run tomorrow?"
"Hey Jay, what's your workout next week?"
"Jay, you got to train with me!"
It's been 2 big training cycles for me in 2019, and I was way too tired to start anything soon. With the daily greeting from her, I can't do anything but reply "But I might be too slow for you now" - which is totally the truth. I was also sick and sidelined for 2 weeks.
Being able to put some really nice training in the past few weeks, I finally feel like I can take her challenge again, so say yes to her next workout. Little did I know during the time I was resting and recovering, she did not settle and now is almost at her peak state.
Today's 3*3 miles on slightly rolling I made several attempts to break through, but she all caught me with ease. When we finally finished the workout, I was pretty happy about it.
"How do you feel?" I asked.
"Not really trying too hard." She answered.
Now I am heading back to Taiwan for a short vacation. But once I come back, Caitlin will be there waiting, and probably planning for something brutal again.

過了幾週的訓練、恢復,我覺得現在準備好可以開始訓練了,於是答應了她今天的 workout.⋯⋯卻忘了我在休息的時候,她可沒閒著。她 PEAK 了!
今天的 3*4800m 跑在起伏步道上,我幾次試圖加速都被她臉不紅氣不喘的抓回來。但是最後完成了整組 workout, 我實在太滿意了!
「你感覺怎麼樣?」我問。
「呃,沒太用力,輕鬆?」她說。
下個月底她即將前往亞特蘭大參加選拔賽,而我只慶幸我可以先回台灣喘個一週,雖然到時候迎接我的,一定是更強的她⋯⋯。

Because basically, the same, like you are going to project it if you don’t get into fear. So you turn around no matter what happens, you’re always going to have food, help, and situation that will end up in a positive outcome for you, no matter what happens. So, go back to Quantum Structure video one, two and three of the Quantum Manifestation Season 1. It’s important in this situation in chaos to understand to learn the structure so you keep up by understanding that you are watching a holographic imprint and you’re the main character, you are in a virtual reality that is a game and you can build and open doors if you need something. If you learn the structure I guarantee you that you’ll be able to manoeuvre in this game, Because the Hong Kong situation, in every country, now has to go through its process, to pop up in front of people’s faces so people can wake up and take their freedom, basically, not take their freedom, but create their freedom (they correct it).
When you find yourself in “a situation”:
This is basically for everybody that finds themselves in a “situation”, keep up those stronger structures, know that it is a hologram, know that it is a process of Ascension. I know it sounds crazy but that’s what it is. And if you keep doing that, you know what happens becomes easy and you’re not afraid. You’re actually free and have an understanding, and then’s it’s easy for you to play that structure, because you are not stopping by the fear vibrational sequence that is so potent and it is stronger than the joy, when not experiencing the joy, you are replacing it with the fear, that is going to create the same and then you cannot get out a whole situation for you to escape the forest, you are going to end up in the forest.
