Wherever we take a trip, it's mandatory not to go super local. Thanks to @vincentinparis who recommended this Chiang Mai local restaurant located in a rural area, where we got more than we bargain for but in the best possible way.
This outdoor family restaurant with rustic wooden benches feels rather dark and a little dingy at first but once the lights were turned up and the local people filled in, it all started to make more sense, more than the menu which were pages and pages of sheets in plastic office file and printed only in Thai language.
If you're lucky you'll be about to spot the deep fried Thai frogs legs, the Namprik oon (mince pork and tomato relish), boiled beef with mysterious but amazing dry spice dip (what is that?) along with a jungle fern soups of sorts with fascinating flavours we've never come across.
