This photograph was taken a few days before he was hospitalised. After that, he never walked again.
�My memories of grandpa have always been those summer evenings spent napping in my grandparents’ bed, as the dull hum of the fan perpetuates the static and slightly irritating heat. I was in primary school and stayed with them every summer when my parents were out of town. As he farted in his sleep, grandma and I would giggle together. That was our private joke for years.
Grandpa was such a prankster. He would hide things around the house and watch with glee as my grandma rummaged around. I wondered as a kid why he enjoyed making grandma so angry. Did he love grandma?

“It’s been really tough for him - having to go on dialysis every other day. He’s been refusing to talk to anyone.” My mum told me when I showed her the photo album I made from our shoot. His face lit up when we showed it to him. As he flipped through the pages, he had a warm smile on his face the whole time. No one had seen him smile in weeks.
�In that moment, I felt all his external circumstances fell apart. His soul was dwelling in love, which was all that remained after all was said and done.
