🍉 SNACK FOR YOUR SOUL
✨ You don't have to be perfect to follow your dream ✨
I have more mornings rolling out of bed wishing I could hibernate than mornings waking up saying: "Tada! Bring it on!"
I don't have a perfect morning routine. I don't exercise or meditate every day.
And still, I'm doing the work I love with people I love in the ways I love.
Not because I've gotten it all together.
Not because I'm righteous about "achieving success" or "living a legacy" or "human potentials" or "making the world a better place." (I've grown sick of all the bumper stickers and motivational mumbo jumbo.)
But because I've tried laziness and it didn't feel good. I've tried finding escape in video games and movies and food and alcohol and sex and men. And it didn't feel good, not for long, not ever.
So one afternoon as I was sipping coffee, feeling the sun on my arms, I thought:
"I was given this life. And I'm here. So what the hell, may as well do something fun with it."
That's why I'm writing these words to (try to) encourage you.
You have a dream. You may don't think you have. But I know you do.
You may think your dream is stupid, ridiculous, embarrassing, impossible. But it isn't.
You may think that you're hopeless, helpless, broken beyond repair. But you're not.
There's something you're meant to do in this world, something that will make you come alive when you do it - your passion.
You can discover your passion.
More than that, you can turn your passion into actions - even if you have no ambitions, no characters, and often in a bad mood; even if you don't believe in yourself and don't have "positive thinking".
You're not broken.
You're a human with your glitches and stains, your quirks and flaws.
You don't need to fix yourself to do what you love.
I want to help you find what you love and do what you love. I'm not a guru who pretends that her life is perfect. I'm just a crazy woman who is living her dreams despite her lousy habits and who gains a sick satisfaction when seeing people come alive.
No more postponing. No more running away.
Because you'll have a lot of fun. Because life would be exciting. And because - as much of a cliche as it sounds - the world needs it.
I believe what Howard Thurman said: “Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
What makes you come alive?

I found some runner secrets
Running gives us a concrete goal. There is a clear indicator and the change that happens. We can feel it by ourselves because it's the change of our body. Running makes us practice. That makes us mean every day. We know that if you want to run. Better than before. We have to practice harder and more accurate. Waking up to practice everyday will lead to big meaning on competition day.
When life is meaningful, we will feel that we are worthy of ourselves like this. Then we blame other people or less interested in self-development than we can't deny that there are a number of people to make themselves feel good. Press others to feel low to feel that Higher self. While those who feel good about themselves don't often do so. He just think how to bring themselves higher. They want to bring others to uplift together. Self-esteem is important when it's full in ourselves. We will. I don't want to find outside wealth. I don't feel like I have to do this so that others can't look hungry. We know that we know that we are okay, strong and stable. All of these can be "freedom"
Have big goals, practice continuously. Make every day meaningful. Be proud of yourself. Don't seek to cover, don't thirst. Accepting from others. Confident in the mind. Confident in our own
...
What makes me see this summary is the speech of "Eliudkipshoke" - one of the world's best marathon runners of this era, which is given to students at cuddle Ox University. Ford in Oxford Union
Kipshoke talks about the key elements of success.
One, self discipline.
Two, great preparation
Three, great deal
Four, positive thoughts
Five, working with others.
Six, consistency
Seven, accept the change
Eight, self-faith
The best runner of Kenya slowly explains that self-discipline is to check yourself all the time. Choose to do what you want to do more than what we want to do. Discipline makes us go to practice without losing our own feelings. Not only running, but us. I will practice conscious habits. Choose the right thing for long term results than choose to do whatever you want for your own happiness.
The way to discipline is to see the priorities of what you will always do. Follow the schedule. Learn to reject the insignificant or stay off the schedule. Practice and most importantly, self-discipline is not just what happens and disappear if it's a lifestyle similar. Build a muscle that can't be done within two days if it takes to live consistency until the muscles become part of us and eventually become the same flesh with life.
...
Kipshoke emphasizes, "Remember that only the disciplined will be free He expands," If you don't have discipline, you will be a slave to emotions, you will be a slave to passion. That's suffering He still. Quote the word "The best day to plant a tree was twenty-five years ago, but the good day is today" and told students at Oxford to plant trees of discipline today.
Another great thing that runners emphasize is consistency. We always start doing something when we feel motivated within ourselves. But if you want to do that, we need discipline to continue on the day we feel like to don't want to do what makes us grow is discipline. That's when there is motivation and discipline, we become consistent and become experts in it. Finally, nobody can reach that point without consistency.
Kipchoke says the secret to running well based on self-confidence. This confidence is caused by training with discipline. His mind tells himself that he has to run this hard. Of course. So I run free, carefree.
Even the best runner suggests eight success elements. But when I hear all of them, I conclude that the most important element of success is "discipline" because if there is the rest will follow, he values training as much. Answer the question of students, "If I miss to break the world record, I don't regret it. If I miss the Olympic Gold Medal, I will regret it when I will regret it when I don't have no discipline in rehearsal" because I know that only consistent rehearsal will If we do our best, even if we lose to someone, it's not sad.
...
I thought about his words that said " Practice hard, live a simple life and you will be free
To the end, the important foundation of a simple life is to practice what you love hard to do better everyday. Then we will have a simple life automatically, and be free from the ruler that others always apply because we know what we are doing for and Proud of that progress
It's strange that running has made me discover new value in life. That's the value of self-discipline without anyone forcing me slowly moving towards that by changing in myself. When doing it is continuously and discipline. I found that discipline. Running a lot of things in life. When running with discipline, I start sleeping with discipline. Wake up with discipline, eating healthy food, have a disciplined work schedule and I start to resist myself not doing what I want. Do but don't affect long term and start pushing yourself to do what you should do, which will be better in the long term.
Discovery is shocking. Discipline is not the cage as I always thought if it becomes the key to a life that is free from the bondage that the world tries to lead us to be lost in those siege when Control ourselves. We have more freedom from temptations and happiness in the circle that will bring us to our intended destination.
The world is so simple.

Wanna hear a true story based on a true life experience?
I've always learnt that life is a learning experience. I grew up having so many amazing people who some taught, showed, lead and even inspired me on how I should perceive what living in this world would be all about. Some may not be as close to me now but they left a positive mark. The negative ones become a light as well. Many who are very close to me now are the ones that bring sunshine and glitters to my life. Thanks for loving me! My experiences has shaped me and having gone through much pain as a kid with a broken family background and betrayals in my early adulthood made me realised that nothing stays the same. It's meant to either be dissolved or grow for the greater. Just like a plant. It grows if we nourish our soul. It dies if we put the wrong soil. At least that's the science of life. And at some point we've gotta make a choice, stand for ourselves and start living the kind of life we want to build. To embrace it as our own, based on our strong believes. And hence a lot of my life experiences has taught me positive and valuable lessons, opened my eyes and mind to the best possible beauty of it's mystery behind many miseries.
Some people questioned where do I gain my perseverance or tolerance? My ability to make peace or always being the one that's willing to accept people or learn in any situation. THAT, made me. I'm not and never a saint or perfecto. I'm just a broken soul. Simple, I was broken many times. And that's the beauty because you get fixed, restored after every crashing (metaphorically speaking. not car crash).
It somehow shaped me. But having to be so open and willing, I learnt the hard way that we should not succumb to people's objectification or patronisation. No one has the right to no matter how powerful they are. I've learnt that it's important to stand firm for yourselves and be able to live based on your values, the vision one has in their mind and passion within their hearts. To represent yourselves. It's makes you a being. More than a being, a soulful empowerment with great vision or mission to define your life and sole purpose of why you do the things you do.
Now we've all got the science of it because it's all being formulated and laid upon us that 1+1= 2 and for some people they live by their treachery ways having believe that - 'THIS is the way. The only way'. And force their way to make people follow their ways. Trust me, I've heard it so many times and sorry to say this even we religious people preaches the same. But aren't we all lost souls who are losing our grips seeking for a saviour or at least something to hold on? Hope ? A light in the tunnel? Money in our empty accounts so we can live comfortably? Investment so our future won't be weary? Fuel to drive our cars? Nice outfits to look good and to cover up our vulnerability? Relationship/friendship to fill our lonely hearts? Curry or gravy in our plain rice ? We are all the same. Everything is a whole and it has connection to it. It's not a separated formula that you call it a subject. It's a whole. We are all the same trying to survive, we are made to fight, rebel and survive. Not generate the art of slavery. Or objectify others based on our statuses. See, the thing is our perspective do make us.
Are we all breathing because we need to or because we want to ? I may be crazy for saying this, but it does make a difference. I don't want to survive, I want to live. I believe we all want the same.
At least we must look also at the artistic side of life (which many of us neglect).
My point is, don't judge. Don't name the value of other's worth because we think we know so. The truth is we have no idea on the cost everyone of us have to pay to be where we are today, still breathing the same air all of us breathe. If you need food to fill your hunger, so does everyone, regardless whether they are short, fat or thin or whether we think their ugly. We are still a body that will one day rot to our flesh and turn to dust. If you need money and finance or wealth, so does everyone. We are no saints nor gods to create what's the 'Shall be' pathway for people. We share our light and fire so everyone could find their way while others found theirs. We share our darkness while some are lost in it so that it could be a guide. Building a dream and our own life perspectively, is what we ought to do, a legacy that would make the world a better place for everyone and not just ourselves. That's an empire of pure joy and legacy. If in the midst we find people rejoicing and being generously helpful with your pursuit, that's a blessing. A family. A unit. Be it permanently or temporarily. They may not stay because we need to move on and they need to move on as well. It's sharing life together as seasons change. We were never meant to destroy each other. We're supposed to help each other to go through seasonal phase and battles so each and everyone of us could find our own way. It is greed and the yearning of power/authority and our deceitful pride that binds and blinds us. Sadly many of us could not live without the pride we have now such as our material possessions, fame, convenience or even authority. As we are inhaling too much of these hazed airs, it becomes toxic within our lungs. It clouds our mind with dusty thoughts, then vaporises it into dirty deceitful acts. I would never want that. As I see many who steps others down to climb up or use others as a benefit, I would long no more for such destructive manner of life. Is that all we've got as humans? I don't believe so.
Am thankful to all whom played a role in my life. Each and everyone of, you are my inspiration. And I thank you. Because of our imperfections and constant struggle to find meaning in life has lead us towards a pure acceptance that strengthen us. It is your tears, joy, story, passion and honesty that motivates me. Today I've pondered upon my own phase of life. What I don't want to be and it has to stop. For it to stop it takes a firm stand. "It just HIT me. I guess I'm broken." Hence it inspired me to write.
*Sorry for the long post. I just had it in my brains and it has been within me for the past few days as I am mentally and physically unwell due to exhaustion or I would say it's definitely an emotional breakdown. I'm in need of a remedy. One that could set me free to take me to greater heights.
*Love yourself and never be afraid to move yourselves to an unknown place for it will widened your capacity. Believe in yourself and never be ashamed of your weaknesses. What have we got to hide ? For every weaknesses shall turn to strengths, hardship and brokenness to empowerment, hard work to success, imperfections to beauty and passion becomes a breathing life.
Live a meaningful life, out of superficiality. That's what we call a rich life.
Cheers :)

This is not the end of Vietnam videos! Good news! When I left Vietnam in early March (when this video was filmed) I never thought I would be returning so soon. That's right, I'm coming back during the summer for 1 month only to film more content. I am only visiting and have no plans to move back. I was given an opportunity a few weeks ago through a flight sponsorship to film a documentary about a boat refugee story that is quite compelling. There's someone out there who really enjoyed my boat refugee videos and want their story told. It's as simple as that. If I could get these stories on a mainstream site, like the Huff Post, I feel like I've done what little I could to preserve Vietnamese history through oral history. If we don't record history, it'll be lost forever. I was unsure but with the approval of my parents, I'm going to accept this blessing and opportunity. Hard work pays off in ways you could never imagine it. Plus, I felt incomplete towards the end of my stay in Vietnam because I couldn't film as many documentaries as possible, including one about my grandmother. In order for me to truly begin something new, I have to finish what I started. I feel very "unfinished" right now. I just ran out of time from having to edit so much. In the past two months I've met so many of you and to hear your support and love for Vietnam videos, made me feel like it was my duty to delay reality a little longer so I could present more content. In other words, a month of my time can equate to two or three months worth of videos that many people can enjoy. I don't miss Vietnam and I'm happier since leaving, but I'm excited to get back to see Vietnam from a slightly different perspective as a tourist and not as someone living there. During the summer, a lot of familiar faces and featured guests will also be there, so it would be very fitting to be there as well. I can't wait to see my friends and family again. There are other opportunities that also came up that allowed me to make this decision, but you will see them at a later time. This is kind of a redemption trip for me where I can tie up all the loose strings and feelings of incompleteness that I've felt since leaving. Again, I want to emphasize that I'm happy and fine since leaving. There's no yearning to move away from America right now, but I do have a passion to create a few more Vietnam videos. I don't really care much about the famous places as I have been to most of them, but this time it's more about telling stories. I will have some travel vlogs as usual, but I want to focus more on short documentaries. Again, thank you for everyone who wrote me messages the past few days. Nothing much has changed in life, I'm currently in SoCal just editing videos like crazy every day. You will love the Vietnamese diaspora content coming up and the limited run Vietnam content coming in the near future. So my question to you is, and probably for the last time is, what would you like to see in Vietnam?
My biggest regret when it comes to living in Vietnam for over 5 years is the fact that I worked too hard, especially on weekends, and didn't have a chance to spend more time with my family. I was too tired from work to make the drive and I didn't want to displace anyone from their rooms. I didn't want to bother them or I was annoyed of their antics and opinions. It was also very hot most of the time as few of my relatives actually have AC in common areas. Towards the end of my sojourn, I visited them more often and thus we got closer towards the end. I will return soon to spend more time with them and to film more content from Vietnam for you guys!
