Calgary
Calgary│Home Cooked Veg Food by Youtuber - Cheap Lazy Vegan
Saveg Café is an unmissable Korean X Western vegan spot in Calgary. It was founded by Youtuber Rose (cheaplazyvegan) and her mother. I always bring my friends who try vegan for the first time, and every time I get good reviews ~
The food at Saveg Cafe is just like the recipe on the cheap lazy vegan channel: cheap, fast, and delicious! I have eaten almost all the dishes in the menu. I recommend almost all the dishes, and their "Chai Latte" is a must try too !!
My favorite goes to "Japchae w / dumplings", it is actually a dish made with Korean "glass noodles". With Korean fried dumplings, it is very tasty, I believe everyone will love it! "No Egg Benedict" is also recommended. The "egg" juice is very similar; "Korean Curry on rice" is not in the normal menu, it is a special and it is so tasty that my Freegan travel companion is rushing to finish it; there are also burgers here, which looks very simple. The "patty" is just fried tofu, but it is unexpectedly delicious!

Our goal with these videos is to show you how fun and easy Asian vegan cooking can be, but every now and then creativity hits and we come up with something that even impresses us. These Jasmine Flower Gyoza are the prettiest dish to come out of our kitchen since we launched the channel, plus they taste amazing and they’re way easier to make than you might think. Make them for a dinner party at your house or bring them to a potluck, either way you’ll impress everyone.
Ingredients
1 Bunch Shiritaki Noodles (buy them here http://amzn.to/2znwWMi)
1 Small Package Shimeji Mushroom (buy them here http://amzn.to/2zo3Ydh)
24 Gyoza Wrappers (but them here http://amzn.to/2zlOwyf)
1 block fried tofu
Sesame Oil (http://amzn.to/2ybrMiW)
1 Small Package Shiitaki Mushroom Sauce (buy it here http://amzn.to/2ApjLbK)
Thai Basil (buy it here http://amzn.to/2yb5NZk)
Thai chillies (depends on your tongue, go slowly at first and then go crazy when you’re ready)
Ready To Start Cooking?
1. Grab the tofu, shirataki noodles, mushrooms and chop them up into small (very small) pieces). Then season them with sesame oil, soy sauce and mix together.
2. Use a fork to mush everything together, get it nice and soft. Then add in finely chopped Thai basil.
3. Your filling is ready, take a taste and season it a bit more if you want. There’s no right or wrong way with this, just depends on what you like and what you’re used to. Be creative.
4. Place the gyoza wrappers on a cutting board, 4 in a row. Use water to join them together and then use a spoon to portion out the filling.
Fold the gyoza up and in half.
5. Slowly roll the gyoza up into the flower shape like in the video.
Place 1 cm of water in a pan and place the finished gyoza in it. Close the lid and steam until the water is gone. Then use sesame oil to lightly pan fry until crispy.
6. If you don’t like spicy food you can eat them like this, they’re killer already. We like to add a bit of Thai kick to ours though. Take the jasmine flowers (or any green veggie you can find) and stir-fry them with Thail basil and Thai chillies. Then pour all that goodness over the gyoza. Yum.

Kaki (Japanese Persimmon) is in season now!
I think I am buying it whenever I go and shop at the supermarket :3
Some of my viewers requested me for a simple sweet using Kaki, so I made this for you. I hope you like it. It was really good!!!
BTW, if you use Tofu instead of water, Dango become much softer.

---------------------------------
Kaki and Shiratama Dango with Kuromitsu (Japanese Persimmon and Sweet Rice Dumplings with Brown Sugar Syrup)
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 25min
Number of servings: 16 Dango
Ingredients:
((8 White Dango))
75g (2.7oz.) Shiratamako (lumpy glutinous rice flour)
1/2 tsp. sugar
75ml- water
((8 Matcha Green Tea Dango))
75g (2.7oz.) Shiratamako (lumpy glutinous rice flour)
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. Matcha green tea powder
75ml- water
((Finish))
1 Kaki (Japanese persimmon) *any fruit is okay
Kinako (soybean flour) *finely chopped nuts are okay
Kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) *honey is okay
Directions:
((8 White Dango))
1. Put Shiratamako, sugar and water in a bowl and knead the dough with your hand until smooth. Adjust the texture by adding more Shiratamako or water until the dough turns as soft as your earlobe.
2. Divide the dough into 8 small pieces and roll into small balls. Then press the center of the ball gently with your finger (in this way, dango cook evenly and faster).
3. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Gently drop the Dango in the boiling water. After a few minutes, Dango will float to the surface. Boil for another 1-2 minutes. Then remove from the boiling water and transfer into cold water (to cool and remove the slimy texture). After a minute, drain well.
((8 Matcha Green Tea Dango))
Make the same as the white Dango, but sift the Matcha green tea powder before mixing.
((Finish))
1. Cut Kaki into bite-size pieces.
2. Place the Kaki and Dango in a dish. Top with Kinako and Kuromitsu.
*You can store the Dango in the freezer. When you eat, defrost at room temperature OR microwave OR cook in boiling water.
*You can store the Dango in the fridge for 3 hours but they can easily get hard, so I don't recommend it.
