Advance the Gospel in the Way that God Leads you
“Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20 WEB)
Jesus was not just commissioning the apostles to preach the Gospel. It is obvious because the twelve did not manage to reach all the nations in their lifetime. This commission is for every believer throughout time. The words which Jesus spoke in the passage above are know as “The Great Commission”.
I am so glad that Jesus did not just give a command and leave us scratching our heads on how to fulfill it. He sandwiched the command between two statements of provision.
Firstly, Jesus used all the authority He had to give us authority to preach the Gospel so that people from all nations would be saved.
Then, at the end of the passage, He assured us of His ever-abiding presence with us.
We are not trying to preach the Gospel by our own strength and eloquence. We have Jesus’ authority which allows us to access God’s power for confirming signs and wonders to back up our message. Additionally, Jesus is with us through His Spirit, to empower us to preach, and to teach us what to say or do.
Although every Christian is sent to preach the Gospel, relatively few are called to preach from stage. Most do not. When the words “preach” or “ministry” are used, don’t limit your imagination to some person in a suit preaching from the stage to a huge crowd.
There may be Christians led by the Spirit to start a soup kitchen where they feed the poor and share the love of Christ by their actions.
Other Christians are led to buy gifts and hand them out to the people they know. The gifts may contain a handwritten note, saying things like, “I know you’re going through a tough time, but I am praying that God will surely help and restore you. The Lord Jesus loves you with an everlasting love!”
There are so many ways to minister the Gospel to others. The Holy Spirit knows all the ways, and He matches you with a certain way that fits you. That is why it is pointless to compare yourself with others.
I first learnt about Pastor Joseph Prince and New Creation Church because my friend and business associate handed me the book “Destined to Reign”.
I remember I was sitting on a coach in Las Vegas, USA, on the way to see the Grand Canyon. The book was my good companion during the journey, and I was absolutely mind-blown by Pastor’s sharing of the true Gospel. The chains of legalism and performance-based salvation fell off, and the sweet love of God flooded my heart.
After that vacation, I invited myself to that business associate’s church (NCC), determined to heard more Gospel truths from Pastor Prince in person. You see, this Christian lady’s ministry looked different from a pastor preaching on stage. She handed out books that she bought, and these acts of friendliness and generosity planted seeds of the Gospel in people’s hearts, producing a powerful ripple effect that blessed many.
You are uniquely designed by God. Your calling is also tailor-made for you. No one can do it better because you have a unique set of life experiences, relationships, gifts, and knowledge to reach a niche crowd of the unsaved.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you and give you opportunities to share the Gospel in the way that He wants you to.
Even if you are not good with words, and you consider yourself antisocial, if you are good at earning lots of money, then give towards ministries that preach the true Gospel which is the Grace of Christ. This is why God blessed you with wealth and the power to get it. Your giving enables ministries to reach more people with the Gospel and plant more seeds for salvation.
This Facebook page, “Milton Goh Blog and Sermon Notes” is one of the platforms from which I minister the Gospel. I started it in July 2014, when I was on vacation with my ex-girlfriend (who is my current wife), in Gold Coast, Australia. In the cold hotel room, I suddenly felt led to start the page on my laptop, and to sharing my writings with people around the world. Never did I imagine that this page would one day have 42k likes and over 200k people reached with the Gospel twice daily each month.
Help this ministry to further fulfill its mission of “Reach More, Teach More”. In these end times, every second is precious. If you want to partner with us to win souls, and also share in the eternal rewards, join us as a patron on Patreon. “God Every Morning” tier and above patrons also receive daily devotionals by email, daily themed Bible Study teachings in the patron WhatsApp chat group, and all my eBooks. God’s hand is all over Esther’s story of promotion from an ordinary Jewish orphan girl, to the queen of the mighty Persian empire.
To replace Vashti, a beauty pageant was to be prepared and conducted, to see which young woman would win the king’s heart.
“So it came about when the king’s command and his decree were proclaimed and when many young women were gathered together in the citadel of Susa into the custody of Hegai, that Esther was taken to the king’s palace [and placed] in the custody of Hegai, who was in charge of the women. Now the young woman pleased Hegai and found favor with him. So he quickly provided her with beauty preparations and her [portion of] food, and he gave her seven choice maids from the king’s palace; then he transferred her and her maids to the best place in the harem.” (ESTHER 2:8-9 AMP)
Many young women were entered into the pageant, the competition was intense. With so many beautiful women gathered together in the same space, tensions, jealousy and envy must have burned at an all-time high.
However, the Bible does not depict Esther as being caught up in any drama or palace politics.
It feels like she just minded her own business and was restful about the whole thing.
The favor that she received from the eunuch Hegai appears to be supernatural too—God’s hand in this is evident in the “seven choice maids”, as 7 is the number of God’s perfection.
Are you in a situation where there are lots of competitors, many of them just as talented as you, and you need an edge over them?
Rely on God to grant you favor like He did for Esther.
God can turn the heart of a person of influence in your favor if you will trust in Him.
I personally believe that Esther was a believer in the God of Israel, that she would have prayed for her needs.
She would most likely have prayed for God’s favor in the beauty pageant, and her faith in His provision can explain why she never seems to participate in any scheming or politicking.
Look at the opulent way in which each young woman in the beauty pageant was prepared for the king:
“Now when it was each young woman’s turn to go before King Ahasuerus, after the end of her twelve months under the regulations for the women--for the days of their beautification were completed as follows: six months with oil of myrrh and six months with [sweet] spices and perfumes and the beauty preparations for women-- then the young woman would go before the king in this way: anything that she wanted was given her to take with her from the harem into the king’s palace. In the evening she would go in and the next morning she would return to the second harem, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s eunuch who was in charge of the concubines. She would not return to the king unless he delighted in her and she was summoned by name.” (ESTHER 2:12-14 AMP)
12 is the number of covenant relationship (twelve tribes of Israel, twelve disciples of Jesus) and 6 is the number of man (Man was made on the sixth day of creation, and 666 represents a man [antichrist] in his most depraved form, alienated from God’s nature).
In our covenant relationship with God (12-month beautification process), we depend on His favor, but that doesn’t mean that we do nothing and just sit there waiting for God to drop what we need from the sky.
There’s still a part where we have to walk, believing that His favor will flow in our lives as we are on the go.
His favor causes what we do to prosper and succeed.
Hence, the 6 months of oil of myrrh and 6 months of perfume.
Depending on God’s favor doesn’t mean that you only wait for the supernatural and miraculous and totally abandon the natural.
Esther still went through the beautification process like everybody else.
I’m sure she didn’t say “God is on my side and will grant me favor to win even without all this. I’m not even going to bathe or brush my teeth to prove that it’s all God’s favor!”
No, God can also use natural things to accomplish His purposes. The key is to be led by the Holy Spirit—do what He tells us to do. That’s godly wisdom.
So please carry on brushing your teeth, using moisturizer, whatever beauty products, and if your doctor has prescribed you medicine, carry on taking it unless God has clearly spoken to you that you don’t need to.
Now, read the following passage carefully because it reveals Esther’s secret of receiving God’s favor:
“Now as for Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai who had taken her in as his [own] daughter, when her turn came to go in to the king, she requested nothing except what Hegai the king’s eunuch [and attendant] who was in charge of the women, advised. And Esther found favor in the sight of all who saw her. So Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus, to his royal palace in the tenth month, that is, the month of Tebeth (Dec-Jan), in the seventh year of his reign. Now the king loved Esther more than all the other women, and she found favor and kindness with him more than all the [other] virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen in the place of Vashti.” (ESTHER 2:15-17 AMP)
The name of Esther’s father Abihail means “The Father is Might”.
Esther relied on God as her might. She didn’t request for anything except for what Hegai the king’s eunuch advised.
In this part of Esther’s story, the eunuch represents the Holy Spirit.
True sons of God are led by the Holy Spirit and not by the Law which requires their own strength and ability.
Esther didn’t rely on her own smarts or understanding, but fully trusted in God to grant her favor:
“Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].” (PROVERBS 3:5-6 AMP)
By submitting to God’s authority, she was demonstrating true humility, qualifying her to receive grace:
“Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.” (Proverbs 3:34 NKJV)
Esther’s original name is “Hadassah” which means myrtle. The myrtle flower is star-shaped, having five petals.
The name she received later on, Esther, means star.
By relying on God’s favor, the star on earth (myrtle) was elevated to the heavens—from a common foreigner, to royalty in the palace!
In Chinese culture, we love to hear palace stories about how the protagonist goes through storms in life with lots of drama, using his or her intelligence and skills to defeat evil and attain happiness.
Such stories inspire us and make us feel like that person truly deserves the happiness that he or she received in the end.
This is fleshly because it champions man’s own abilities and methods. Oftentimes, such protagonists use underhand strategies that God would frown upon.
However, Esther’s story shows us that it is still possible for a story to be restful, smooth-sailing and still wonderfully inspiring.
It was none of her own smarts or efforts, and all of God’s favor.
You may begin as a star-shaped flower on earth, but when you rely on God’s grace (unmerited favor), the Lord will greatly exalt you in the sight of all—you become a rising star in the heavens to shine for His glory!

Prophesying Versus Praying
“Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither shall you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’” Then Yahweh said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them, neither have I commanded them, neither did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.” (Jeremiah 14:13-14 WEB)
The gift of prophesying is available to every Christian. The apostle Paul said he wanted above all for every believer to prophesy.
God is most willing to manifest this gift through you, especially when you ask for it.
One key principle: if the Lord didn’t show or tell you something, don’t say that the Lord said it.
If you tell something that sounds positive, is Biblically sound, but is only your hope for others, that’s called prayer.
You’re praying for someone to receive blessings promised by God.
However when you prophesy, it’s when you receive a specific message from the Lord, for the purpose of edification, exhortation (strongly encouraging someone to follow God’s ways) or consolation.
“Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands; but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation. He who speaks in another language edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the assembly. Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but rather that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.” (1 Corinthians 14:1-5 WEB)
Condemning others for their sins and threatening them of punishment from God is not exhortation.
When God corrects a believer, He doesn’t condemn. He does so firmly, lovingly but not to induce fear or to shatter one’s spirit.
Our sins were all righteously forgiven through Jesus’ finished work at the cross. In Christ, are truly free from the condemnation of sin.
All things are permitted, but not everything is beneficial for us.
God’s correction is for our own good, encouraging us to use our freedom in Christ wisely—in a way that profits us and others.
Godly sorrow produces repentance, but it doesn’t condemn.
The way Paul did it, he reminded the church about their identity in Christ and fervently encouraged them to walk in a way that befits that true identity. That’s exhortation which includes correction.
“For though I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it. For I see that my letter made you sorry, though just for a while. I now rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you were made sorry to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death. For behold, this same thing, that you were made sorry in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vengeance! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.” (2 Corinthians 7:8-11 WEB)
A true word of prophecy is definitely not something conjured by your own mind.
It will also surely not contradict the Scriptures, and it won’t exalt yourself.
Prophesying in Jesus’ name is not to be taken lightly because a true word of prophecy will surely come to pass.
When you speak words of your own imagination and say that Jesus told you that, it will stumble the faith of others when it doesn’t happen.
All believers can prophesy but not every believer is a prophet.
Prophets receive words of prophecy more frequently than other believers. Prophesying is their vocation—the ministry that God has specifically entrusted to them.
Words of prophecy are often accompanied with the gift of word of knowledge to confirm the word of prophecy.
It’s just like how Evangelists are commissioned and anointed to proclaim the Gospel and win souls as a vocation, not on the same level as a believer sharing the Gospel to their friends and loved ones.
Similarly, Teachers are specially anointed and sent to teach God’s word at a different level from a believer sharing with his family and friends what he learnt at a church service.
Teachers receive revelation of the Scriptures from the Holy Spirit and are able to expound it accurately in the light of the New Covenant of Grace.
If you desire to operate in the gift of prophesying, simply ask Abba Father to work this gift through you and teach you how to do it, for His glory.
It is written that it’s a gift available for every believer so boldly ask and believe—you will receive!
