Business is about making tough choices. 上一集就講咗 Who is your primary customer? 誰是你首要顧客?
今集我會同你探討第二個策略問題: 核心價值 - 你是把公司股東、顧客、或員工利益行先?
How do your core values prioritize company shareholders, emoloyees and cuatomers? Who come FIRST? 當有衝突,邊個利益行先?
根據哈佛教授 Bob Simons 呢本書 Seven Strategy Questions,冇話對唔與錯。 但搞唔清楚就一定錯。三選其一,你揀邊個行先?
(1) 公司/股東 (Shareholders) 行先? 李嘉誠就最出名股東行先。佢退休前最後一次主持長和系股東會,被問及一個出色的企業家最重要是什麼,李嘉誠話:「最重要忠誠為股東爭取正常收入,為股東設想,投資有前途項目,派息要合理,將股東利益排第一。」 我諗你咁多年都聽唔少佢講話股東利益排第一。 因此,好多人都話同長實做生意唔簡單, 甚至乎有時畀人感覺 (no offense) 賺到盡, 一蚊一毫都同你計,why? 因為股東利益行先,佢又啱喎。 但做善事? 李嘉誠本人捐幾十幾百億佢就好疏爽,因為唔關股東事。
Core value (核心價值)係股東行先,即係公司利益行先,成日話為公司著想,即係等於話為公司股東著想。 因此好多上市公司, 甚至乎初創企業,都會有 employee stock option,希望員工同公司利益一致。 希望佢哋由朝到晚都諗住 Creating Shareholder Value,為公司 = 為自己增值。
根據呢本 Seven Strategy Questions, AIG (AIA 母公司)、Citigroup、Pfizer 輝瑞藥業都係出名 shareholders 行先的公司,也是好成功的公司。做生意就係先講賺錢, 天公地道。
(2) 有啲公司嘅 Core Value 就係顧客行先 Customers First。例如,Johnson & Johnson 強生,係1943年就 craft 咗呢個 Credo (教義) :
We believe our first responsibility is to the patients, doctors and nurses, to mothers and fathers and all others who use our products and services....
We are responsible to our employees who work with us throughout the world.
We are responsible to the communities in which we live and work and to the world community as well....
Our final responsibility is to our stockholders. Business must make a sound profit....
When we operate according to these principles, the stockholders should realize a fair return.
Johnson & Johnson 的核心價值 core value 係顧客行先、員工第二、community 社群圈子第三、股東利益排第四。
我相信好多公司都係「話」顧客行先, 但有冇寫到好似強生咁清楚呢? 當然我相信更加多嘅公司,就係口講一套,做另一套。 口講顧客行先, 實質上遇到任何金錢利益,就縮數,公司/股東利益行先。
例如你開間茶餐廳, 有啲食材就嚟到期, 喺掉同唔掉的邊緣, 又唔會食死人,但又未必係最靚料,咁你會點? Be honest! ..... 公司賺少啲都揼?你就係顧客行先。 側側膊,唔多覺照用,慳番啲成本? 你就係公司行先。 無話對與錯, 最緊要搞清楚。你知啫,但係全公司同事知唔知? 能唔能夠全部人都言行一致?
(3) 如果我問你,有 covid 肺炎前, 某航空公司嘅股價喺呢道, 現在估計應該係邊? 如果我同你講仲高過肺炎之前,你會唔會信? 肺炎前係每股USD57,依家? USD62,高咗近10%。 佢就係美國西南航空 Southwest Airlines, 記住呢個係全球最多人染病嘅美國喎,有排都未走出疫情。佢就係出晒名 Employee First 嘅公司。Yes! The airline puts employee happiness above customet satisfaction. 員工開心,更重要過顧客滿意程度。
Southwest ranks employees first, customers second, and shareholders third. 員工第一、顧客第二、公司/股東第三。
你有無坐過Southwest Airlines 嘅飛機? 搭飛機通常最悶嘅就係一開始嘅 Safety Annoucement 安全提示。 但如果喺 Southwest? 你會聽有人講 jokes .... 有人 Rap!
呢啲講笑、唱歌、跳舞冇得迫。 員工開心,佢哋就自然會做。 你上網睇到會更多更多其他搞笑例子。
Southwest company blog says: "We believe that if we treat our employees right, they will treat our customers right, and in turn that results in increased business and profits that make everyone happy."
Employees come first 嘅理念,令到Southwest Airlines 每兩秒鐘就收到一份 job application, 每100個人申請,只有兩個人能夠成功獲取錄。2% acceptance rate, 好多傳媒都話去 Southwest 返工仲難過入哈佛! 有好嘅人才,就自然有好嘅服務,有好嘅業績。 亦都因為咁Southest Airlines 一間公司嘅市值,曾經係等於美國所有其他航空公司(American Airlines, Delta, Continental, UA etc)加埋嘅總和,都唔夠佢一間公司值錢。
你唔好以為Southwest Airlines 淨係員工開心喎,根據權威市場研究公司 J.D.Power 2020 survey,Southwest Airlines 嘅顧客滿意程度 customer satisfaction 都係全美國最高,both long and short-haul. 長短途都贏曬!
但老實說,坊間有幾多間公司會大聲講話員工行先? 間間都話顧客行先? 但諗真啲,係唔係真呢? 轉一轉個優先次序, 會唔會有另一番景象呢?
公司/股東、顧客、員工, 係你嘅核心價值邊個行先? 冇話對與錯。 但最緊要搞清楚, 萬一互相有衝突,你會揀邊個先? 係咪全公司上下同事、顧客、股東、合作伙伴都知? 你是否言行一致?
因為錄呢條片,我都問咗自己好多問題。我自己盛滙商舖基金係邊個行先? 我老婆答案即刻答我: 「你梗係員工行先啦! 因為嗰次點點點.... 」
Yes. 我自己商舖基金係員工行先 Employee First 嘅公司。因為我成日都同同事們講:
「錢賺唔晒,最緊要大家 happy!」...
「唔鐘意賺嗰個人嘅錢,就冇賺!」...
「我哋人少少,賺多啲,遠遠好過人多多,個個賺少啲! 大家都想養家活兒,搵到、洗到、身體好!」
我相信只要能夠建立一個好嘅 culture 企業文化, 大家同事們自然會作出個啱嘅決定,買舖賣舖,有條好嘅 team,真係好難輸。 因此,老實說,如果有邊個客唔妥我嘅員工,我通常都會「唔妥」返佢 - 當然呢個要建基於你哋員工嘅信任。
To me ....「顧客不是永遠對的!」 選擇適當的顧客,長遠回報會更佳, 對你選擇嗰班顧客回報都會更佳。我係道都好幸運地同你講,我商舖基金由2016年成立以來加入的同事們,公司基本上係冇人走過。Turnover 近乎零! 你對人點,人就自然對你點! As said ... 錢賺唔晒,最緊要大家同事們Happy! 人客/公司自然賺錢。

It’s Him, Not You!
“Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”” (Exodus 3:10-12 WEB)
When God says “I will send you,” it means that He has prepared everything you need to accomplish the task, even His miracle-working power.
Moses had fled from Egypt after accidentally killing an Egyptian soldier many years ago and was still haunted by the fear and shame of what happened back then. This traumatic event caused Moses to become self-conscious, with an inferiority complex.
When God said “I will”, Moses said “Who am I”. Moses’ focus is wrong because the ability and worthiness was never found in him, but in God.
When God sends you, it is not because you are good, but because He chooses you, and that makes you the perfect person for the job. He can transform someone who is utterly incapable to become a mighty vessel to showcase His power.
“Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘Yahweh has not appeared to you.’” Yahweh said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” He said, “Throw it on the ground.” He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it. Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand, and take it by the tail.” He stretched out his hand, and took hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand. “That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” Yahweh said furthermore to him, “Now put your hand inside your cloak.” He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow. He said, “Put your hand inside your cloak again.” He put his hand inside his cloak again, and when he took it out of his cloak, behold, it had turned again as his other flesh. “It will happen, if they will not believe you or listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. Moses was still self-conscious, feeling unqualified for the huge task. God gave him two supernatural signs to cause the people to believe. When God sends you to deliver a message, you are not relying on persuasive speeches and cunningly devised words, but on the power of God.
“My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5 WEB)
The world has no access to this power, so it has to depend on natural speaking techniques only, but God can give you favor with men, cause miracles to happen as you speak, and stir the hearts of the listeners through the Holy Spirit. Don’t rule out the supernatural.
“Moses said to Yahweh, “O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.” Yahweh said to him, “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn’t it I, Yahweh? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.” He said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.”” (Exodus 4:10-13 WEB)
Even after receiving the direct mandate from God, and two supernatural signs to convince the people with, Moses was still focused on himself and his lack of ability.
He disqualified himself based on his weaknesses, but this is because he didn’t have the New Covenant revelation that God’s power is made perfectly clear in our weaknesses.
In the very area of his weakness (mouth), God promised to be with him. When God is with you in something, it will surely prosper exceedingly and abundantly above all that you can think or imagine.
Moses was still afraid and asked God to send someone else. God was angry at his unbelief, and the anointing of speech was eventually given to Aaron (Moses’ brother) instead. Moses missed out on receiving God’s powerful grace, and settled for relying on Aaron to be his spokesman.
The apostle Paul also learned the revelation of receiving God’s strength through his own life experience.
“He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 WEB)
If you are like Moses who was slow of speech and ineloquent, or if you are weak in any other area, see that as a qualification to receive God’s great power in that area. It is precisely because you are weak that you are God’s perfect candidate for the job. When you are weak, then you are strong because the power of Christ will rest on you!

【玳瑚師父佛學論】 《短慮而失敗》
Failure due to lack of Foresight (English version below)
吾家父是個很能幹的父親。他一個人養九個孩子,加班之餘,閒暇時間以行醫和玄學來利生養家,吾平時看他都是睡很少。看看新加坡的國父李光燿,為囯為民貢獻一生。吾的佛父,蓮生活佛,更是粉身碎骨度衆生。
父親要在外頭賺錢養家,這個時候就不能隨隨便便不喜歡就辭去工作,因爲辭去工作的那刹那要想到米缸的米,孩子的奶粉錢,還有家人的生活起居,必須得忍辱負重,這些都是偉大的。能夠將自己的精神體力貢獻給國人及衆生,把小愛化爲大愛,更是人上人。
以下文章獻給父親們,玳瑚師父祝所有天下的父親們父親節快樂,身心身體健康,也祝吾師佛佛体安康,度眾無數,任何病痛都不臨身,度眾圓滿。

妳你可曾失敗過?請不用不好意思。可以說每個人都曾經歷過失敗。分別只在於失敗的原因,各有各的不同。但怎麼樣的不同, 皆離不開短慮與運氣。我們放眼這世界上,所有成功的人士,我們不難發現她他們多少都有些遠見。當然,,單有遠見而沒有運,成功的時日,自然就沒那麼早到。
相反的,我們放眼這世界上,所有的失敗人士,我們也不難發現,她他們失敗的因素,那就是短慮及欠缺時運。活在這地球上的我們,一定要有遠見,沒有遠見等如坐以待斃,與自殺沒兩樣。請認真仔細想想看,戰爭如何來?因為國與國之間沒有遠見。要知道,安邦才可定國啊!為何好好一個家庭會破裂?為何好好一個身體會敗壞?為何米桶總是缺米?為何做生意總是沒有盈餘......?
人生在世要有遠見,人身離世更要有遠見啊!有些人找吾為其批八字,得知其父母在某歲會有大關,立馬淚流滿面。其實啊!妳你若有遠見,根本就不必如此,也不必聽到「西洋樂隊」奏起音樂時痛哭流淚。哈哈哈!父母在世時,就應盡孝,且要知曉她他們是否有任何遺願待了。若有的話, 儘量一一為她他們完成,好讓他她們得以早日安息,冥陽兩利。
最重要的是,要趁她他們健在時,知曉她他們的信仰,並在她他們耳邊唸誦相關的經咒,引領她他們離開及跨越「障礙」, 往光明長樂的境界去 ,這可以說就是大孝了。 只要祖先「安樂」,我們自然而然就會安樂。祝各位不再短慮而失敗。

My Dad is a very capable father. He was the sole breadwinner for our family of 9 children. In addition to working overtime, he rendered medical and Chinese Metaphysics services in his spare time for extra income. I also noticed that he got very little sleep. Our Founding Father, the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, also contributed his life for our nation. My Buddha Father, Living Buddha Lian-Sheng, would not spare a thought for His own life for the salvation of all sentient beings.
As a father, a man has to make ends meet and does not have the liberty to quit his job on a whim as he knows that the livelihood of the family would be affected. He has to endure huge amount of stress and humiliation and that is nobility for his family's sake. To be able to direct both your mental and physical energy for the betterment of the country or all sentient beings, and expand the love you have for your family into an all encompassing one for all, that is the exalted hallmark of a noble father.
This article below is dedicated to all fathers. Master Dai Hu wishes all fathers a Happy Father's Day. May all of you be strong and healthy. I would like to wish my Guru Master good health. May He be free from all illnesses and be deliver all sentient beings from sufferings in complete perfection.

Have you ever experienced failure before? Please do not be embarrassed as I would say almost everyone has failed before. The difference lies in the reasons for their failures. Though they may all sound different, they would not be too far off from these two: lack of foresight and lack of luck. Let us survey the successful people in this world and it is not hard to discover that these people possess foresight. Of course, without abundance of good fortune, the days of success would not come so soon too.
On the contrary, we look at the people who had failed and would also discover the main reasons of their downfall in their short-sightedness and a run of bad luck. Living in this world, we must look farther ahead, without which is akin to being a "sitting duck" waiting to be hit. It is no different from committing suicide. Please think about this deeply, why do wars occur? It is due to a lack of foresight between nations. You must know that a nation will only prosper if her state affairs are administered well, not by going to war with one another. Why do families fall apart? Why do your health deteriorate? Why is your rice bucket never full? Why do your business fail to make profit?
Both the living and the dead need foresight! Some clients engaged my service to read their birth chart (bazi) only to discover that their own parents would face a big mortality hurdle at a certain age. They would immediately break down in tears. Actually, it does not have to be this way. You do not have to listen to the funeral band and shed tears of sorrow. Ha ha ha! You should be filial to your parents while they are alive, and find out what their unfulfilled wishes are. You should do your best to satisfy their wishes so that they may go in peace when the day comes. This is beneficial for both the living and the deceased.
Most importantly, while they are still alive and healthy, you should know their religious belief, so that you can recite or chant the relevant mantra or sutra and guide them over their karmic obstacles and towards the realm of light and everlasting bliss. This final act will be the greatest filial piety of all. As long as the ancestors are well and at peace, we, as their descendants, will naturally be well too. I wish everyone to possess foresight in their lives and be successful.

Yes. 我自己商舖基金係員工行先 Employee First 嘅公司。因為我成日都同同事們講:
「錢賺唔晒,最緊要大家 happy!」...
「唔鐘意賺嗰個人嘅錢,就冇賺!」...
「我哋人少少,賺多啲,遠遠好過人多多,個個賺少啲! 大家都想養家活兒,搵到、洗到、身體好!」
我相信只要能夠建立一個好嘅 culture 企業文化, 大家同事們自然會作出個啱嘅決定,買舖賣舖,有條好嘅 team,真係好難輸。 因此,老實說,如果有邊個客唔妥我嘅員工,我通常都會「唔妥」返佢 - 當然呢個要建基於你哋員工嘅信任。
To me ....「顧客不是永遠對的!」 選擇適當的顧客,長遠回報會更佳, 對你選擇嗰班顧客回報都會更佳。我係道都好幸運地同你講,我商舖基金由2016年成立以來加入的同事們,公司基本上係冇人走過。Turnover 近乎零! 你對人點,人就自然對你點! As said ... 錢賺唔晒,最緊要大家同事們Happy! 人客/公司自然賺錢。
