昨天，七月到尼泊爾做震後重建志工、八月初被舉報為失蹤人口的25歲埃及裔美國女孩Dahlia Yehia，屍體在河裡被人發現，裝在袋子裡，兇手是一位尼泊爾本地老師Narayan Paudel（紐約日報的新聞連結在此：http://tinyurl.com/qdpnalr）。新聞沒有說兇手的殺人動機是什麼，只說被害和Paudel是透過沙發衝浪的網站認識，P是她的沙發主。
25-year-old Egyptian American girl Dahlia Yehia's body was found in a bag in the river yesterday. She arrived Nepal in July as a post-earthquake volunteer.
She was reported missing in early August. The murderer is a local teacher Narayan Paudel (Link from New York Daily - http://tinyurl.com/qdpnalr)
The reporter did not state why she was killed but only said they met on Couchsurfing. Paudel was her host.
我從來沒有刻意隱藏沙發衝浪潛在的危險性，我當沙發客時其實也遇過一些怪事（像是之前在Santorini島上的希臘大媽）（這故事改天再完整寫出來）不過，當被問到用這種借宿的方式旅行安不安全時，我還是會鼓勵大家相信人性，可是這並不代表在找沙發主時不需要提高警覺。
I have never tried to hide to potential danger when using CS. I have definitely had some weird encounters when I couchsurf (like the crazy woman in Santorini ... I will write the story some other time.) However, whenever people ask me whether it's safe to use the site, I always encourage people to believe in humanity, but this does not mean you don't need to be cautious when looking for a host.

In my article "The things about Couchsurfing" (currently only available in Mandarin Chinese,) I mentioned that it's very important to have complete profile when looking for a host. It is not only for accepting guests - the same standard goes for finding a host as well. It's a two-way street. Nothing is completely safe. I mean NOTHING. That includes walking on the street ... You might also choke on a piece of bread when you are sitting at home, Who knows.
我希望強調的事情是，千萬不要抱著非得要有免費住宿的心態找沙發，或是勉強自己去住讓你光看檔案感覺就不是很好的沙發主家，而且無論如何都一定要有備案（青年旅館之類的），沙發衝浪的目的不是省錢而已，千萬不要為了省住宿費而犧牲自身安全，更不能忽略自己直覺告訴妳的事。
What I am trying to say is - Do not use couchsurfing if you just want a free place to stay. Do not stay with a host you are not comfortable with solely by looking at his/her profile and always have a backup plan (like a hostel.) Please don't sacrifice your personal safety for money, and do not ignore what your instinct tells you.
