Pipo wrote a post today about our wedding, giving some details about preparation and costs, so I thought I’d do the same, but in English. You can see the wedding here https://youtu.be/ZJX2ayCCqD0.
What does a wedding to someone from Thailand involve, how stressful is it to plan and how much does it cost?
Pipo’s parents are modern-thinkers and initially said they weren’t interested in a dowry. What was most important for them was that we loved each other. But an uncle suggested it might look bad if there wasn’t one, so we settled on a small amount that was returned to us on the day.
That was about it in terms of pre-wedding discussions. After that, it was two months of heavy planning.
Pipo is a do-it-yourself enthusiast and as our budget was small we decided to hold the wedding at the family house in Ayutthaya, and to do as much as we could ourselves rather than use a wedding planner.
Pipo made her own wedding dresses (one traditional Thai, one traditional white, and two party dresses for good measure), she made my Thai outfit, and she did 99% of the decorations and floral arrangements (with help from family members the day before the wedding).
I helped out where I could, mainly carrying bags of plastic flowers or fabric, but also talking through the ceremonies and how it would all work on the day. I would say the only stressful thing for me was having to do all of this in Thai. Definitely good for vocabulary-building. It was the same on the wedding day. I was lost in a sea of Thai words that were only vaguely familiar to me. But part of the fun was trying to remember what to do next and when. Thai weddings are actually pretty relaxed (at least the ones I’ve been to) and no one’s going to blame you if you make a mistake.
We used a company called Goodgiftidea to do the ceremonial offerings, decorations and seating for the kaan maak, engagement ceremony, and rod nam sang ceremony. https://www.facebook.com/goodgiftidea/
Breakdown of costs for the morning in Thai baht:
Kaan maak ceremonial offerings, ceremony seating, rod nam sang 37,000
Thai bridal dress 5,000
Floral decorations for house and backdrop 10,000
Groom’s bouquet 600
Catering (5 dishes) for 160 people 20,000
Breakfast noodles for 160 people 6,000
Photographer 5,000

Wrote this song 5 years ago on an Easter Sunday. That was when I started sharing my music publicly online though I was still a pharmacy student, and I realized I really wanted to pursue my music dream. I knew this path would never be easy, so I wrote this to remind myself if I ever get lost on the way, come back to this song and remember what I'm doing this for.
5 years later, here I am, living my dreams. I moved back to Taiwan after graduation, and I've just had my first album debut. God has given me so much and blessed me with so many opportunities, but I just can't help feeling lost.
So I come back to this song.
May we all find our light and be the light.
Grateful to share this song and my music with you.
Merry early Christmas to you all. ❤️

"Light of the World" (世界的光)
Composed/Arranged/Produced/Performed by Ariel Tsai
Jesus You died on the cross for us
You paid the price and took our sins away
You gave Your all so freely, unreserved
You loved us more than what we could deserve
Jesus You're the way the truth the life
You showed us how to love and to forgive
You see our hearts, You know our every thought
You break the chains, and set us free again
Jesus You're the light and world to me
I lift my hands and I will sing
You're the only one for me
Jesus make me the light of the world
Let me shine for Your glory LORD
Let me love You more each day
Jesus make me the light of the world
Let me shine for Your glory LORD
Let me love You more each day

My dearest Barnaby,

English Translation :
Barnaby
Miraculously I am still crying for you
There was a moment of confusion and sadness
mourning silently and It feels like our sweet time hasn’t gone
You smile and take me into your heart
Look
The sky is beautiful isn’t it?
If you are still alive
Imagine
How beautiful was your life
Miraculously I had a life with you that I still think about
It’s a mark of the beauty of being loved and to love
Your eyes speak of the faith in us
Love me deeply with no expiration date
Look
The sea is beautiful isn’t it?
If you are still alive
Imagine
How beautiful was your life
Look
This world is big
You
How beautiful was your life
The day will come when I see you again in heaven
And we will be looking at sunrise in the snow
It will be so beautiful
I will remember you forever

Remember our Kam Heong Chicken Recipe? We noticed that many of you loved that recipe so we decided to show you how to cook another Chinese prawn or Chinese Shrimp recipe in Kam Heong style as well. We also noticed that some of you had difficulty getting curry leaves so we have replaced them with kaffir lime leaves instead. Hopefully you can find the leaves. We believe kam heong recipes originated from Malaysia and invented by Chinese. Kam heong dishes have a combination of Chinese, Malay and Indian flavours. Very very unique and so packed with flavours. Never tried kam heong dishes before? Try this recipe and let us know what you think. Happy cooking!
See the ingredient list below for your easy reference.
