吃辣爽,菊花殘?
身邊有沒有無辣不歡的朋友?三不五時便吃麻辣火鍋,甚至外出都要隨身自備辣油,為每一餐加添「滋味」?吃過一頓超辣的麻辣火鍋過後,第二天上廁所時連肛門都有火辣辣的感覺,其實是因為辣椒素無法被人體完全吸收或中和,所以隨消化道一直到達直腸位置,排便時「菊花」便有灼熱感,雖然這種灼熱感對身體沒有即時影響,但中醫角度認為辣具有宣散、行氣、祛散風寒、通血脈及發汗的功效,容易耗散氣血,以及加重身體的偏熱症狀,所以氣滯、血瘀、濕熱及陰虛體質不宜食用。
不少人在吃辣過後身體有兩極反應:腹瀉或便秘,因為辣是油溶性的,所以煮辣的菜式都添加很多油,脾胃虛弱人士未能消化油膩食物結果腹瀉連連;吃辣容易令人上火,耗損津液,令大便秘結不下,便出現便秘的情況,所以吃辣實在要適可宜止。
紓緩濕熱型腹瀉茶療:炒白扁豆生薏米茶
功效:健脾化濕、清熱止瀉,紓緩大吃大喝或煙酒過後的濕熱型腹瀉、大便質黏、氣味異常臭、或大便後肛門有灼熱感等症狀。
材料:炒白扁豆15克、生薏米15克
做法:材料洗淨,鍋內加入約800毫升水,武火煮至水滾後調文火煮20分鐘,把茶連渣倒進保溫瓶即可。此茶能反覆沖泡至味淡,建議一星期飲用兩至三天,連續兩星期為一個療程。

Do you have friends who cannot live without spicy food? Would they regularly indulge in spicy hot pot and bring along a bottle of chili oil to spice up their meals?
After a night of spicy hot pot, we can feel a burning sensation in the rectum when we visit the toilet. This is because the human body cannot completely absorb or neutralize capsaicin from the hot pot.. Bowel movements will then transport capsaicin down to the intestines, and this is why we can feel a burning sensation in the rectum when we excrete the waste.
Though the burning sensation will not have a direct impact on the body, Chinese physicians believe spiciness can disperse stasis, improve circulation of the qi and blood, dispel cold, and induce sweating. Hence, it can exhaust the qi and the blood, further aggravating the heat condition of the body. Therefore, individuals with qi stagnation, blood stasis, damp heat, and yin-deficient body constitutions should avoid eating spicy food.
Upon consuming spicy food, many people would develop two extreme reactions: diarrhea or constipation. This is because spiciness is oil-soluble, and this is also why a large amount of oil is always used to cook spicy food. As a result, individuals with a weak spleen and stomach will experience diarrhea because they cannot digest greasy food.
Besides, eating spicy food can cause heat to accumulate, and this will exhaust the fluid in the body, causing stool to turn hard and lead to constipation. Therefore, it is important not to consume spicy food excessively.
Tea remedy to clear heat, dispel dampness and relieve diarrhea: Stir-fried hyacinth bean tea with coix seed
Effects: Strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness. Clears heat and relieves diarrhea. Alleviates various symptoms caused by damp-heat-related diarrhea after eating, drinking, smoking or drinking, such as sticky stool, exceptionally bad odor, burning sensation in the anus following a bowel movement.
Ingredients: 15g stir-fried hyacinth bean, 15g raw coix seeds,
Preparation: rinse all ingredients. Combine all ingredients with 800ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Pour all contents into a thermos and tea can be re-brewed until flavor weakens. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days. Two weeks for a treatment.

有些蔬菜天生帶有黏液,吃起來有滑潺潺的質感,有人喜歡,有人覺得很討厭,事實上這些黏液甚有益處,先說秋葵,它有清熱降火氣作用,果莢內的黏液可保護胃壁,促進胃液分泌,改善消化不良症狀。而夏天當造的潺菜又名「腸道清道夫」,口感似是加了黏液的菠菜,其黏滑的「多糖」物質就有滑腸通便作用。蘆薈更是知名的通便食材,它有清肝除煩功效,適合紓緩因熱症引起的便秘。以上介紹的三種食材屬性偏寒涼,適合身體偏熱人士食用,其大便狀態較硬,呈一粒粒、乾身羊屎狀、要費大力氣才能排出。要注意脾胃虛寒、腹瀉便溏者不宜食用。
秋葵 — 性寒,具有清熱降火、潤腸通便作用,其豐富的黏液質可潤燥、護胃。但由於性寒,脾胃虛寒者、容易腹瀉、孕婦不宜多吃。
潺菜 — 又名落葵及木耳菜,性寒,有清熱、滑腸通便的功效,適合大便秘結、痔瘡便血、濕熱痢疾者食用。脾胃虛寒者、月經期間不宜多吃。
蘆薈 — 性寒,清熱通便的作用,適合熱結便秘者食用。脾胃虛寒者、容易腹瀉不宜多吃,月經期間、孕婦不宜進食。

Slimy ingredients can help to relieve constipation

Malabar spinach - Cold in nature, and can clear heat and loosen the bowels to relieve constipation. Suitable for those with constipation, hemorrhoids, blood in stool, damp-heat type dysenteric disorder. Those with asthenic spleen and stomach and during menstruation should not eat too much.
Aloe - Cold in nature, can clear heat and relieve constipation. Suitable for those with heat stagnation type constipation. Those with asthenic spleen and stomach and prone to diarrhea should not eat too much. Not suitable for pregnant or menstruating women.

CheckCheckCin:中醫理論認為春天「省酸增甘,以養脾氣」,不是說帶酸味的食物完全不能吃,而是建議多選擇甘味食物,中醫指的甘味除了解作甜味還包括淡味,而且重點是帶甘甜味的食物有補益脾胃作用,甘味的水果包括蘋果、無花果、火龍果、香蕉、蜜瓜或哈密瓜等。除了留意甘味或是酸味,亦要配合自己體質選擇,身體偏熱人士宜選擇屬性寒涼的水果,身體偏寒人士宜選擇屬性溫熱的水果,而屬性平和的水果則適合所有體質人士食用。
蘋果 — 性平,味甘,有潤肺健胃、生津止渴、消食止瀉功效,尤其適合慢性腹瀉者及食滯型腹瀉者食用。蘋果同時有暢便和止瀉功效,因為其果膠及膳食纖維有通便作用,而含有的鞣酸能使大便内水份減少,從而止瀉。
無花果 — 性平,味甘,有潤肺健脾開胃、潤腸通便、清熱解毒功效,對痔瘡便血、老年、孕婦便秘有明顯療效。
火龍果 — 性涼,味甘,有清熱生津、潤腸通便、生津止渴的功效,適合內熱較重、陰虛火旺、痔瘡便秘者食用。脾胃虛寒、腹瀉便溏者、寒性痛經者勿吃。
香蕉 — 性涼,味甘,有清熱解毒功效,要注意尚青或沒熟透的香蕉有收斂作用,能止瀉更有可能引起便秘;而熟透的香蕉(蕉皮帶梅花點)寒性會減低,帶潤腸通便的效果。
蜜瓜/哈密瓜 — 性寒,味甘,具清暑熱、解煩渴、利小便的功效,且果肉水份充沛,可消暑清熱。如感到身心疲倦、心神焦燥不安,食用蜜瓜和哈密瓜都有清熱解燥之效。惟注意脾胃虛寒勿吃。

CheckCheckCin: Chinese medicine believes that during spring one should opt for sweet flavour over sour. However, it is not to say that foods with sour taste can not be eaten at all, but it is recommended to choose more sweet foods. Sweet within Chinese medicine refers to sweetness as well as bland taste. Sweet foods have a nourishing effect on the spleen and stomach. Sweet fruits include apples, figs, dragon fruits, bananas, honeydew or cantaloupe. In addition to paying attention to sweetness vs sourness, you should choose fruits according to your body condition. Those with heat-related body condition should choose cool and cold natured fruits, those with a cold-related body condition should choose warm and hot natured fruits, and fruits with mild nature are suitable for all body conditions.
Apple - mild in nature and sweet, moistens the lungs and strengthens stomach, promotes fluid production to relieve thirst, aids digestion and relieves diarrhea. It is especially suitable for chronic diarrhea and indigestion related diarrhea. Apple can relieve constipation and diarrhea because the pectin and dietary fiber of apple can relieve constipation. The tannic acid can reduce the water content in the stool, thereby alleviating diarrhea.
Figs- mild in nature and sweet, moistens the lung, strengthens the spleen and stimulates appetite, helps to moisten bowels to relieve constipation, clears heat and removes toxins. It is especially effective for hemorrhoids and blood in stool and in treating constipation in elderlies, pregnant women and young children.
Dragon fruit - cool in nature and sweet, clears heat and promotes fluid production, moistens bowel to relieve constipation and relieves thirst. It is suitable for those with inner heat, yin deficiency with excess fire, hemorrhoids and constipation. Not suitable for those with asthenic cold spleen and stomach, diarrhea, loose stool and asthenic cold related menstrual pain.
Bananas- cold in nature and sweet, clears heat and removes toxins. Note that green and unripe bananas can also relieve diarrhea or lead to constipation. Ripe bananas (have small brown spots on the skin) are less cold in nature, and can moisten the bowels to relieve constipation.
Honeydew/Cantaloupe - cold in nature and sweet, clears summer heat, relieves thirst, and promotes diuresis. The flesh is juicy and can clear summer heat effectively. If you feel tired and anxious, honeydew and cantaloupe can also remove irritability. Note that those with asthenic cold spleen and stomach should avoid honeydew or cantaloupe.

正所謂春雨綿綿正好眠,不知為何春天總是又累又睏。有註冊中醫師解釋,春天天氣潮濕,濕氣容易入侵身體,使人出現昏昏欲睡、疲倦乏力、肩頸痠痛等「春睏」症狀。想改善春睏問題,可吃一些溫通陽氣的食品,減少生冷食物。
註冊中醫師鄭智仁指,「春睏」多由「濕」引起,濕氣入侵後,身體的分泌會增多、大便會較稀爛、皮膚出現濕疹,而婦女白帶亦會增多。痰濕和濕熱體質人士更易出現上述症狀。鄭醫師解釋,痰濕體質以體型肥胖、腹部較肥滿,即「大肚腩」和口黏苔膩等為主要特徵,中醫就認為這類人新陳代謝較差;而濕熱體質以面垢油光、口苦和舌苔黃膩等為主要特徵,同時容易有皮膚問題,而這類人很多時都未能及時排出體內的代謝廢物。他又指,春天濕邪亦多引起身體下半部份問題如水腫,亦會令人出現小便困難、腹瀉等問題。

大暑,屬於節氣之一。古書《二十四氣節解》說:「大暑,乃炎熱之極也。」指大暑為全年最高氣溫的一日,大地上的熱氣蒸騰,酷熱難耐;雷雨和颱風會變得頻繁,容易積聚濕氣。而註冊中醫師梁尹倩建議可飲用「雙瓜消暑湯」,有助解脾胃,清熱利濕。
以消暑、清熱、利濕為主的「雙瓜消暑湯」,最適合濕熱體質、經常戶外工作的人。材料內的綠豆、海帶能清熱解毒,當中的海帶更有潤腸功效,幫助排便。除此之外,梁醫師建議冬瓜連皮煲煮,會提升其祛濕功效。而西瓜白色那部份,中醫又稱為西瓜翠衣,有清熱利濕、消暑的作用。
她提醒,由於其材料屬性偏涼,所以脾胃虛寒、氣血虛弱、容易腹瀉和暈眩者,每星期飲用一至兩次就足夠。另外,飲用椰青、大麥茶等消暑飲品,或進食適量的當造瓜菜和水果,如蜜瓜、菠蘿、節瓜和合掌瓜,能夠幫助消暑。
