【聽到act up跟「起來」一點關係都沒有，而是大事不妙了】

以up作字尾的片語常被譯為「…起來」，但以下三例的實際意思卻天差地遠。首先，Act up不是動起來，而是出狀況之意。第二個的cook up，則代表著「編故事」：
