Taiwan is like a diamond in Asia: Veteran educator Doris M. Brougham

“Taiwan is like a diamond in Asia,” U.S. educator and the founder ( ) of “Studio Classroom,” Doris M. Brougham, said on Wednesday.

“The Diamond is very small, but diamonds shine all around,” she added.

Doris M. Brougham, who has been working in Taiwan for more than 70 years, gave a speech at the opening event of the exhibition ( ) “Foreigners Love Taiwan” organized ( ) by the Taipei City Archives on Wednesday at the West Benevent Square ( ).

Echoing ( ) the theme of the exhibition, Brougham, 95, said she has stayed in Taiwan for more than 70 years and recalled ( ) that when she first came to Taiwan, the land was still developing and many people were facing illnesses.

The veteran educator explained that “the great thing about Taiwan is that people are very willing ( ) to change and to learn.”

She added that Taiwan is a beautiful place and that although “there are many beautiful places around the world, the place is not the most important thing, the most important thing is the people.”

The 95-year-old who has dedicated ( ) several decades to English education in Taiwan amusingly ( ) shared that buffaloes ( ) could even be seen on Zhongshan Road when she first arrived in Taiwan.

She recalled that she learned to speak Mandarin, Taiwanese, and even some indigenous ( ) languages. Yet, she stressed ( ) that the most important thing is to be able to communicate no matter what language we speak.

And we all communicate with each other based on the connection that we are all part of this beautiful island, she remarked ( ).

Brougham ended her speech by stressing that Taiwanese people are very tolerant ( ), and those who have been here all agree that Taiwanese people are very friendly.

“No matter what languages we speak, we are all people living in Taiwan and we are all Taiwanese.”

The “Foreigners Love Taiwan’ exhibition will open from March 10 to April 8, between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

‘The exhibition features three major sections ( ): “Foreigners Who Love Taiwan,” “Sentiments Beyond 100 Years,” and “High-Five Love Taiwan,” featuring ( ) the stories of foreigners who have made selfless ( ) contributions to Taiwan, such as Mackay, Marjorie Ingeleiv, Robert Swinhoe, Sidney Barton and Marjorie Landsborough, Yoichi Hatta and more.

資深教育家彭蒙惠女士 讚許台灣如鑽石般瑰麗

「台灣就像顆亞洲的鑽石，雖然面積小，但各個角落都光彩奪目，散發耀眼光芒。」空中英語教室創辦人彭蒙惠女士形容道。

在台灣深耕超過70年的彭蒙惠於週三上午參加由台北市立文獻館所舉辦位在西本願寺廣場的「吾愛台灣－愛台灣的外國人特展」開幕式活動。

呼應此次特展主題，高齡95歲的彭蒙惠表示，自己待在台灣超過70年，她回想到剛來台灣時，這片土地還在發展中，許多人面臨著病痛，在二戰結束的大環境下，台灣相較於國外復甦的更快。

彭蒙惠直截了當地點出，「台灣最大優點就是人們非常願意改變、願意學習。」

她也提到，台灣是個美麗的地方，儘管「全世界有非常多很美的地方，但地方不是最要緊的，最重要的是人。」

彭蒙惠女士奉獻台灣英語教育超過一甲子的時間，她逗趣地分享道，在她初來乍到的時代，中山路上甚至還能看到水牛在逛大街。
她表示，自己不但會說中文、閩南語、甚至還會說原住民語，然而，不管講什麼語言，最重要的是我們要能溝通，而大家彼此之間溝通連結就建立在我們都是這個美麗島嶼的一份子。

最後，她強調，臺灣人包容度非常高，且來過寶島的人都一致認同台灣人非常友善。

「不管講什麼語言，我們都是住在台灣的人，我們都是台灣人。」
「吾愛台灣——愛台灣的外國人特展」即日起到4月8日早上十點到下午五點開放民眾前往參觀。展覽分為三大展區分別是「愛台灣的外國人們」、「超越百年的情感」、「High-Five愛台灣」，展出馬偕、白寶珠、斯文豪、巴爾敦、蘭大衛與連瑪玉、八田與一等等對台灣做出無私貢獻的外國人們的事蹟。

#五大洲水深火熱
#極端氣候台灣準備好了嗎？

近幾周以來歐、美、亞、非、大洋五洲至少有40個國家，遭受洪水、乾旱、熱浪、野火等毀滅性自然災害襲擊。《經濟學人》本週的封面故事就是「3℃的未來，無安居之所」(No safe place)，世界氣象組織（WMO）也警告，極端氣候事件會變成你我生活的日常。

#歐洲
昨天，南歐夏季熱浪來襲，義大利、西班牙、希臘地區，都爆發森林野火。薩丁尼亞島「前所未有災難」最慘，延燒200平方公里， 相當於一個台北市面積，1500人被迫逃離家園。

上週，西歐百年世紀洪水，近兩百人死亡，多處停電、停水、手機不通。德國總理梅克爾表示「德文中找不到任何字，足以形容這場災難」。英國首相強生才剛向西歐表示準備提供任何支援，沒想到25日英國反遭極端暴雨狂炸，淹沒車站、醫院、道路。

#美洲
7月初，美、加逼近50度高溫，飆破歷史紀錄，數百人熱傷害猝死。美西加州、奧勒岡州野火燒不盡，燒掉超過20個台北市，兩千棟住宅居民被迫遷離。

加州州長杜魯道說：「過去幾年，我們看到愈來愈多這種極端天氣事件，這不會是最後一波。」

美國總統拜登表示，氣候變遷正在醞釀「匯集極端高溫和長期乾旱的危險」，並警告「今年發生的森林大火次數可能破紀錄」。

#亞洲

中國鄭州千年一遇大洪水，一小時降下超過 #200毫米雨量，創歷史新高，地鐵車廂淹滿、水庫潰堤，至少50人死亡 #數十萬人撤離。

印度西部40年最嚴重洪災，水淹醫院，呼吸器中斷造成8名新冠患者死亡，洪水引發土石流共造成百人死亡。

印尼雅加達持續下陷，每逢豪雨就淹水，更受海平面上升威脅，成為全世界沉最快的首都，2050年就會消失，

#非洲
長期以來，乾旱熱浪、洪災不斷，更造成肯亞蝗災，瘧疾、黃熱病、登革熱北移，聯合國世界氣象組織(WMO)預測，氣溫上升將導致非洲糧食減產1成左右。

#大洋洲
隨著海平面不斷上升，斐濟、吉里巴斯、馬紹爾群島、馬爾地夫、諾魯共和國、吐瓦魯等太平洋島國，都面臨島嶼存亡危機。

台灣才剛經歷56年大旱，停灌休耕創歷史新高，緊接而來各地淹水。
我想問，如果世界各地的暴雨熱浪大火發生在台灣，台灣有辦法應對嗎？

面對極端氣候事件頻繁，你我都不會是局外人，《溫室氣體減量及管理法》正在全盤大修，擴充為《氣候變遷法》，主要就是增加「調適」的做法，來面對極端氣候的衝擊，先做好準備。

脚本の高橋氏と原画の水無月氏は'98年のコピー本や'99年のサンケイスポーツ紙で、痕の続編を思わせる発言もしていたが、あくまで「機会があればやってみたい」程度の話で、高橋
が退社した事もあり事実上この話は立ち消えとなった。

同システムを採用した雫と混合されがちだが、鬼が出てくるのがこちら。

BGMはヴァリアブル・ジオ(98/'93年)や、To Heart、うたわれるものシリーズなどのアクアプラスのサウンドスタッフら4面による作曲。

材料:
水耕牛油生菜 適量
挪威煙薰三文魚 1包
洋蔥絲 少許
美國特大珍寶車厘子肉 4-5粒
Sunnut Daily nut White/Red 雜果仁 適量

蘆筍 2包
巴馬火腿 12片

特大珍寶車厘子 10粒
蜂蜜 適量
希臘乳酪 4湯匙
海鹽 少許

沙律Dressing:
The Nutter Company杏仁醬 3湯匙
意大利黑醋 2湯匙
蜂蜜2湯匙
海鹽 少許
特純橄欖油2湯匙

大杯茶 茉莉有機發酵綠茶 2支
日本巨峰提子 適量

做法：
1）將蘆筍的硬身底部切去，掃少許油，放入已燒熱的烤板上烤約1分鐘，取出。灑少許海鹽調味，以巴馬火腿包裹即可，備用。
2）將車厘子起肉。將希臘乳酪加入蜂蜜及車厘子肉，以少許海鹽調味。
3）杏仁醬加入意大利黑醋、蜂蜜、海鹽及特純橄欖油，拌勻後備用。
4）將牛油生菜鋪在碟上，放洋蔥絲、起了肉的車厘子及整件煙薰三文魚，淋上杏仁黑醋醬，灑適量雜果仁及特純橄欖油。
5）巨峰提子切半，加入冰塊及茉莉有機發酵綠茶，即可。

About This Game
Nine Dragons, selected by 7M global players has returned with a brand new type of gameplay and dynamic Martial-Art action.

From the Gado island, the mysterious place that has a rumor of nine dragon’s legacy, overcome the adversity which comes from deadly enemies and hopeless environment to prove yourself the worthy one to be a master of nine dragon’s world.


[Gado Island]
Gado island became a bloody battleground by 50 unknown mercenaries who try to obtain the nine dragon’s legacy because of the rumor that tells whoever obtains the legacy, will gain enough power to rule the nine dragon’s world.
As one of the mercenaries, without any allies, you must fight through the battleground to find “Dragon’s Jade” which is the key to enter the place that nine dragon’s legacy is hidden and reveal the ancient mystery.
[Prepare for the battle]
You will be dragged to the island with nothing to help you fight or survive and therefore, must search for supplies and farm yourself before you face another mercenary with nothing in your hand.
Even a single dumpling could cause a serious difference during the combat. To maintain survivability and chance to win the battle, we recommend checking every item that you find and make a way to use it in your own way. Like just said, every item has their own way to support your gameplay.
Sometimes, you will be able to find a hidden item from the unexpected place or a mysterious NPC and of course, it will be a game changer once you find it.
There are several weapon types and various socket items that you can insert to the weapon. Experience every weapon type you can find, build your own combat style and choose them strategically to cope with all the situations you may face during the gameplay.
[History will only remember the survivor]
Remember, it is not honor that keeps you alive on the battleground and wins the battle, and the only one who can discuss the honor is the one who survived from the battle.
Sometimes you'll learn to turn your back on your enemies and run away promising the next opportunity, and when the opportunity comes, you'll learn how to use all the things that are given for victory, even if it’s way far from the honor.

[The Dragon’s Jade]
There are nine ruins that use to be a clan house for each nine clans of this world in Gado island and three of those ruins have the dragon’s Jade which is the key to the chamber that nine dragon’s legacy is hidden.
The key will show the location of the chamber in your map by a mark, and once the key gets out from the ruins, it will show the chamber’s location to every people after a certain time after it.
Some of you will try to visit the ruins while some of you will search for the one who already has key. It’s obvious in this world when you kill someone, you take everything that they had.

[It is only the beginning]
Do not be disappointed when you hear someone already got the key and revealed the legend of nine dragon’s legacy. We’re going to provide another thrilling adventure to you in an early day.
