My father was an ex-cop and he would get very upset when he read reports of police receiving bribery "bikin malu polis force saja!"
I used to tell my bestfriend Wyomia Tsai , "our fathers are poor policemen".
It was said in jest but also laced with sadness because those working in the government civil service are underpaid.... or are they?
My father, though angry with the thought of unscrupulous police taking bribes, said "tapi kasian juga bah... some are so desperate ... its "easier" to just go down this route".
The article below made me rethink that conversation.
Corruption usually occurs because some individuals are willing to use illicit means to maximise personal or corporate gain.
What makes one corrupted? What triggers that first step in saying "yes"?
Voluntarily? Extortion?
What gives?

“As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms. If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11 WEB)
Do you know that you have a special gift from God? It is a trait, skill, or ability which you have that not everyone else has.
God is infinitely creative and He gives each one grace gifts according to His choice.
No matter what gift you have received, use it in “serving one another”. What you have inside you can benefit this world.
The devil takes gifted people, bribes them with something their flesh craves, and uses their gifts to be good at spreading evil, but you as a child of God must use your gift for good.
When you use your gift to serve, do it excellently as if you are directly serving the Lord. People will see that and God will be glorified among them.
Over the years, I realized that my gift is writing. I have never studied writing at an advanced level, and have never been to university, but God speaks to me through His Spirit and causes me to understand His word and write about it to encourage people with the beautiful Gospel truth.
If you haven’t realized your gift, I hope that “Sandcastles Don’t Last Forever” will help you. In it, you will discover how to identify your calling, how to step into it, and the great rewards of walking in your God-given calling in life: http://bit.ly/sandcastlesdontlastforever
