夏天天氣異常炎熱,但當聽到某種聲音,人會不由自主地「起雞皮」(又叫做毛管戙)甚至「打冷震」,你知道為甚麼會有這種生理反應嗎?當我們感到寒冷時,「交感神經」會刺激體毛的「立毛肌」收縮,令毛髮形成豎立狀態,皮膚隆起堵住毛孔,避免體內的熱能從毛孔流失,就是我們感受到「起雞皮」的感覺。除了寒冷,當我們恐懼、緊張或興奮時都有「起雞皮」的情況,據說是因為人類未進化前全身是毛,豎起毛髮體形看起來更強大能嚇退敵人。有些聲音特別容易讓人「起雞皮」,你想到是哪些嗎?

Goosebumps moments
The summer’s heat is exceptionally hot, but there are some sounds that can trigger goosebumps as if we have caught a cold. Do you know what causes this biological reaction?
When we feel cold, our sympathetic nervous system will cause the arrector pili muscles to contract, making our hair stand on end. This is to block the pores to prevent heat from dissipating, and that is what goosebumps feel like.
The same thing would happen when we are fearful or feel nervous or excited. Rumors have it that the human species tens of thousands of years ago were once covered in fur, and they would erect the hair on their body to scare off their enemies.
Certain sounds tend to give us goosebumps. Can you think of any?

🐔 Scratching the surface of a plate with a fork or a knife
🐔 Scraping a chalkboard with fingernails
🐔 Rubbing two Styrofoam pieces against each other
🐔 Unpleasant erhu or violin sound
When we enter an air-conditioned space from the outdoors during summer, the wind from the air-conditioner can give us chills. Having sweat on our body might cause us to catch a cold, so remember to wipe the sweat off our body before entering an air-conditioned environment. Also, carry a jacket or scarf with us all the time to keep us warm.

Nail cutting, cleaning and nail deformity correction are ESSENTIAL SERVICES. Our desperate customers are calling us nonstop. Many people are not able to care for their nails due to health and medical conditions and need to get their nails cut professionally.
Our fingernails and toenails are like little shields protecting our fingers and toes; not keeping our nails healthy makes the tissue beneath them vulnerable to infection via things that we come contact with. Proper nail care can prevent fungal infections, painful ingrown fingernails and toenails, and other nail and skin related diseases.
Medical doctors are also among our clienteles. They too, have to trim their nails short, clean and without sharp edges to ensure they do not hurt their patients accidentally.
There are elderly with Parkinson’s who need special care to cut their nails without getting hurt. We also cater to Diabetic patients who need special care to avoid risk of infection if they get into cuts from improper nail cutting.
Athletes who are active in sports also need to treat thick and painful calluses from friction and excessive training.
Yes! Nail cutting is an ESSENTIAL SERVICE.
Our job is a skilled profession and we cannot work from home. Thousands of us are losing our job and struggling to make ends meet, particularly single moms and young women.
We have been following very strict SOPs at the salon and will continue to do so. There has been NO CLUSTER from nail salons.
Try understanding our industry and you would see that we are not a HIGH-RISK industry! Phase 4 classification must be revised with consideration of all the above facts.

【手部護理】雙手皮膚經常掹掹緊?

鍾小姐:「疫情以來常常洗手同使用酒精搓手液,雙手看來又乾又皺,好像老了10年。」
CheckCheckCin:忽略手部護理令到雙手又乾又皺,比實際年齡要老,看起來顯老的手一般有以下幾個特徵:
☐皮膚乾燥甚至爆裂
☐皮膚粗糙
☐皮膚失去彈性
☐青筋突現
☐出現色斑
☐指甲容易斷裂
經常戶外工作、雙手做粗重工作及常濕水的手,肌膚老化得特別快,如果常用酒精搓手液的話,老化速度亦會增加,因為酒精會刺激皮膚,帶走皮膚角質層上的水分,令皮膚乾癢、繃緊,嚴重的更會導致脫皮、敏感、痕癢,甚至演變成主婦手。所以工作時宜戴上手套保護,盡可能選擇用肥皂洗手,酒精搓手液只是在無法洗手情況下使用,使用後亦宜塗抹不含刺激物的護手霜,讓肌膚補充水份。
動起來!簡易手部護理:
(一)厚繭型 ── 多死皮或長倒刺,可以來個溫和的磨砂護理:
1茶匙黃糖(或米渣)加2-3茶匙橄欖油拌勻,磨砂後以溫水洗淨,一星期護理2-3次。
(二)乾燥型 ── 手部皮膚繃緊,除了勤塗護手霜,臨睡前可厚敷一層護手霜加強滋潤,間中可以做手膜護理:
1茶匙黃糖加2-3茶匙蜂蜜拌勻,厚敷在手上10分鐘,以溫水洗淨即可。

Rescue your dry hands
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve been washing my hands with water and alcohol-based sanitizer regularly. Now my hands are dry and wrinkly, and they look 10 years older.”
CheckCheckCin: When we neglect the skincare routine for our hands, they would look much older than our actual age. A pair of hands that look old may have these features:
☐Dry or cracked skin
☐Rough skin
☐Lack of elasticity
☐Visible veins
☐Dark spots
☐Brittle fingernails
Our hands may age much faster if we spend time working outdoors, rely on our hands to carry out physically demanding tasks, and wet our hands too often. Using alcohol-based sanitizer would also speed up the aging process because alcohol would stimulate the skin and remove the moisture from the cuticles. This would cause the skin to feel dry, itchy, and tight. In more serious scenarios, the skin might peel easily, more susceptible to allergens, severe itch, and even suffer from the housewife's eczema.
Hence, it is important to wear gloves at work and wash our hands with soap. Use alcohol-based sanitizers only when you run out of options and remember to apply irritant-free hand cream after that to rehydrate the skin.
Simple hand care routine:
1) Thick calluses – those with thick dead skin and hangnail can opt for a mild exfoliating skincare routine:
Add 2-3 teaspoons of olive oil to 1 teaspoon of brown sugar (or rice dregs) and mix them well. Use the mixture to exfoliate the skin and wash it off with warm water. Repeat the routine 2-3 times a week.
2) Dry skin – those with hands that always feel tight. Besides putting on hand cream diligently, apply a layer of hand cream before sleep to boost its hydration effect. In the meantime, you can carry out this routine:
Add 2-3 teaspoons of honey to 1 teaspoon of brown sugar and mix them well. Apply the mixture on the hands for 10 minutes and wash it off with warm water.

最近看杜汶凙喱騷講強迫症的題目令我想到今年加拿大疫情最差時自己也表示有強迫症的症狀: 咬手指. (Show clip)片中他提及的數格子等的強迫症行為其實我小時候每隔地上走過兩步格子會喜歡跪一次在地上. 睡覺前數自己眨多少次眼, 不能有6或者6有關或pooy數. 例如: 6,12, 16, 18也不行. 因為6是魔鬼的號碼. 如果眨了6次眼要馬上眨到7,8, 或9. 或when I use to sit in the car I needed to use both sides of my hand to touch the car window. 4 times with both hands. I don’t even know why.
長大後我慢慢tou ley這些重複性的精神狀態. 這些年唯一陪伴我的是咬手指.
今天的身分拍這條影片不是而暗網仔的身分去拍, 而是為我自己找出答案. 因為彈琴或任何要show手指的行為有時都會有goo leuy. 因為不漂亮.
I know theirs a billion people will worst tragic fates than me and this is such a stupid small problem but this channel is for me to express my self.
這幾天找到原來這類型的強迫症學名叫 ‘身體聚焦重複行為障礙’ 是你重複obsessively對自己肉身做成的創傷. 這個koy kuet名詞令我發現自己某一些其他我曾經以為正常的行為也其實是強迫症. 當然咬手指是我最明顯的symptom. But like biting my lips, bitinh the inside of my mouth (like this) biting other parts of my hand, picking my bitten fingernails. Scratching my eyes inner part, before my elbows I constantly scratched for no reason. It’s almost like self harm.
I used to think everyone did this at least bit their lips.
Now the reasons for this some believe is anxiety. But honestly I bite my hands when I’m either bored or thinking. I think it’s a mixture because when I upload a video and I’m writing the tags and all that I’m both thinking but also anxious because I’m nervous about the video performance. So I think for me it’s both those things.
Now a cause of 身體聚焦重複行為障礙或BFRB有一些人説有自己問題外還有遺傳成分. 因為我也真的見過長booy有scratch themselves的習慣.
My solution: after watching this video they told me that the solution is not to stop yourself from the impulse of doing these things before that’ll only make you want to do it more. Actually it is to be conscious in that moment that you want to do this and do another action as a replacement. So what I did is I pretend I’m playing the piano every time I get this self harm impulse. Strange it when I do this my mouth still moves and if I were biting my nails or my lips and yesterday I caught myself constantly want to bite.
But over time it has gotten easier. And I think with enough effort I can stop this. Because honestly my nails are traumatized beyond belief and it’s been so long time I’ve had to cut nails because they don’t grow and is so weak. When I scratch an itch it feels weak. Like it’s gotta fall off. And it’s just...I don’t want that you know so let’s try to change it.
