To be honest with you, last month was pretty stressful for me. I know many of you may be going through the same phase of being burned out and non stop anxiety and I just wanted to say - I feel you! And we will get through this together. 🤍 I’ve been taking my time immersing myself in nature rather than social media and I really felt the peace I was looking for. My foggy mind felt clearer and healthier. I’m no longer burned out and i’m sooo happy to tell you that I have a very exciting project coming out soon to share with you all. 🥰🌱
Just a gentle reminder here to not get overwhelmed by all the things you see on social media - most of it’s not true anyway. Spend your time wisely, don’t waste it on scrolling through social posts all day. Go out in the nature, hang out with your family, get something done, cook some nutritious meal for yourself - value your time.

It is difficult to find Nasi Ulam in Singapore and I am so happy that I manage to get a slot at Straits Curry Company tonight. 🎉 I have been looking forward to this dinner for many days, they are so popular that I booked at least 3 weeks in advance.
Conclusion? Very very good! The ingredients were painstakingly chopped into small shreds so you got a bite of everything in one mouthful. It is so fresh and fragrant, served together with Ayam Percik and Assam Prawns.
Raw greens such as kacang botol and cucumber were added for extra crunch and freshness. They even have a few slices of finger root today which makes a nice palate refresher.
This absolute labour of love is complete when paired with their fiery homemade sambal belacan. It popped powerfully on the palette. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal tonight. ❤️

It's such a privilege to be able to breastfeed Layla until now. It's been almost 11 months, and I'm still loving every second of it. Every now and then, we still chill in bed together for some skin-to-skin TLC. I love that natural, pure, powerful bond that we share together in that short time.
Now that Layla is successfully sleep trained. Frankly, i miss a bit of those late night huggies with her. Haha, say only la... when she was waking up 6-7 times a night, it was really no fun for both of us.
She would cry the min she wake up until someone goes rescue her. Sometimes it's 1 min, sometimes it's 10. Basically, she is constantly waiting at our disposal which is really disruptive for her sleep. After she got older and more aware, it got worse, she would want to be carried in a certain way, a very specific way, and when i can't achieve that for her, she would wail with such intense anger!
I love my baby to the core. But those night wakings were tough and draining. I felt like i wasn't giving her the best of me in the day because i really just didn't have the energy.
I was constantly living in fear. I would tiptoe around the house so i wouldn't wake her up. I'll make Deon go hide in the yard, close the yard door just to open his can of coke cos i didnt want her to wake up while I'm in a middle of a meal. So stressful seriously!
11 months later, i decided to sleep train Layla. I must admit, the first 3 nights were really hard. Thoughts of giving up crossed my mind so many times! But I'm really thankful @deon.woo and Angela @upchild.sg stood by me and held my hand through it all, encouraging me to keep preservering. Finally on Day 5, she slept through both naps and through the night all on her own! I cried. It was tears of joy. I was so proud of Layla. It wasnt easy, but she did it!
I know many moms have a lot of questions re sleep training (like i did)! So I've decided to go on iglive with Angela on Thursday, 19th Aug, 1030am. You guys can ask us everything then! I'll share abt my experience and Angela will provide you with professional advice. She usually charge for consultation. So you guys had better make good use of this opportunity! Haha!

I am a 100% Cantonese. Both late Grandfathers came from China Guangdong Province. Growing up with my late Grandma aka Poh Poh was one of the best things since I was born. She inspired me a lot in many ways. She was quite a cook too. Being a Cantonese, soup is a must in our daily meal. She cooked the best soup ever. She used charcoal to cook soup in a clay pot. OMG, I really do miss my late Poh Poh's sweet dessert soup aka Tong Shui too!! So I really want to share her recipes slowly but surely with u all. This is one of the easiest tong shui she cooked for us. Let me show u how.
Ingredients for 6 small bowl servings:
. 18 water chestnuts, peeled and chopped
. 2 eggs
. rock sugar
. 1.5 litres of water
. pandan leaves
You can serve it warm or cold.

NOTE: Spaghetti Napolitan sounds like an Italian dish BUT it is a typical Japanese pasta dish made at home and served at restaurants nationwide. Nothing related to Napolitana and the main seasoning is Tomato Ketchup. It is a must.
Frozen Udon noodles are just perfect! Noodles won't go too soft but very chewy yet elastic even after you pan fry them 👍
Napolitan is well balanced with meat and vegetables. Easy for kids to eat!

Udon alla Napolitan (Japanese Pasta Recipe)
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 15min
Number of servings: 2
Ingredients:
2 packages frozen Udon noodles
50g (1.8oz.) sausage or ham
100g (3.5oz) onion
50g (1.8oz.) green pepper
1/2 tbsp. olive oil
3 tbsp. Kagome Tomato Ketchup https://amzn.to/2S8EH0A
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce
salt and pepper
grated parmesan cheese
Directions:
1. Slice the onion and green pepper. Diagonally slice sausages.
2. Heat olive oil in a frying pan and cook the onion slices until soft. You can cook garlic together if you like.
3. Add green pepper and sausage slices and cook well.
4. Meanwhile defrost the frozen Udon noodles as directed on its package.
5. Move back to the vegetables, season with tomato ketchup and Worcestershire sauce (or soy sauce). Drain the noodles and mix well. Season with salt and pepper if needed.
6. Serve on a dish and dust with grated parmesan cheese to finish.

For this episode, we went down to JOMO to complete an UNDEAFATED 2KG Burger Challenge! JOMO is located at Holland Village and is restaurant + bar concept featuring Western-style cuisine and bar bites. The décor is sleek and minimalistic, appealing to the modern consumer. On top of their standard burger menu, they have an UNDEFEATED burger challenge with a 15-minute time limit. Completing it makes your meal free. Specifically for my challenge, the staff promised to have a company-wide volunteer outing should I complete it in under 10 minutes.
The challenge comes with a 5-patty beef burger. The patties are dry-aged Angus beef from Sidecar. Together with the patties, the burger is loaded with a cheese sauce, onion rings, sliced cheese, bacon and an egg, nestled between 2 toasted buns. Besides the burger, the challenge has chicken-salted fries, purple coleslaw and a Bourbon Vanilla milkshake, with a total weight of around 2KG.
You could taste the dry-aging noticeably in the patties, which had a deep meaty flavour but were a bit on the dry side. Eaten as a package with the cheese, egg and onion rings, the burger really came together as a flavour smorgasbord. The fries had an interesting addition, chicken salt, and you could taste the strong chicken flavour if you licked the salt off the fries. However, eaten en masse and with chilli sauce or ketchup, the mild chicken flavour was drowned out by the stronger ones. The coleslaw was decent, not too sweet and still crunchy but nothing exceptional. The milkshake was very strong alcohol-wise, but pleasant enough to wash down the burger with.
I completed this UNDEFEATED 2KG Burger Challenge in right under 9 minutes, committing the staff at JOMO to partake in a volunteer activity together. The challenge is not overwhelmingly huge or technical, so 15 minutes is a reasonable timing for a large eater. JOMO serves a variety of affordable Western food including other kinds of burgers, steaks and their signature Fish & Chips. Do head down to JOMO to eat your way to a free meal!
