At just 3 months old, young Ee Han was diagnosed with global developmental delay and quadriplegic cerebral palsy. His parents were devastated and “it was like the whole world [had come] to an end”.
Simple acts such as drinking from a straw or clapping his hands proved to be difficult tasks for him.
Fortunately, Ee Han’s parents' decision to store his umbilical cord blood at birth enabled him to participate in a pilot treatment involving the infusion of his own stem cells back into his body.
Within weeks of receiving the infusion, Ee Han’s parents and doctor reported improvements in his motor skills, and his ability to correspond with others.
