Farewell to another old local restaurant - 中國冰室 China Ice Cafe.
This 55 year-old classy Hong Kong-style restaurant is the few remaining restaurants in HK which still offers traditional Iced Cafe food (e.g. Iced Lotus seed drinks 蓮子冰). The restaurant is also notable for its colourful mosaic tiles and the indoor balcony. This is where some famous Hong Kong movie was filmed #PTU #新不了情 .
The boss will retire soon and the restaurant will be permanently closed down at the end of this month.
It is very heartbreaking to know that many old Hong Kong restaurants and architecture have/ are going to be disappeared. I wonder what will be left in Hong Kong after 10 years.
What I had:
☞ 早餐A 加 鮮奶
Breakfast (set A) with bottled milk HKD$34 + 6
☞ 菠蘿包Pineapple bun + 蛋撻 Egg tart HKD$11
☞ 鳳凰奶糊 Milk paste HK$30 (They said it is an old Hong Kong dessert. It tasted like the stuffing of the Egg Custard Bun 奶皇包, but mixed with water.)
The reason why restaurants are called an Ice cafe is that they sell drinks with Ice, like Iced pineapple 菠蘿冰 and Iced Lotus seed drink, in the hot summer time in the past.
