喬治蓋希文的一生只有短短的39 年，在1937年因腦癌逝世。
雖然短暫，卻創造了非常多膾炙人口的作品。
除了歌劇、音樂劇之外，在當時也創作了非常多的流行音樂（亦是現在的爵士樂），也做了許多電影配樂。
並把爵士音樂的元素、黑人靈歌、福音歌曲、工作歌⋯帶入古典音樂。
甚至以1920的黑人背景為主題，寫下歌劇《Porgy and Bess 乞丐與蕩婦》。
1935年時，在美國波士頓首演，同時歌劇院中，首度出現全黑人歌手。
在當時的民風下，是非常大的挑戰！

用一個女孩子的心情來詮釋這首歌曲。
那是一種淡淡的自嘲、自憐。
