去南投酒廠參觀Omar威士忌,參觀生產線又試新酒及麥汁,再係品酒室試了12款威士忌,非常有趣嘅體驗。台灣陳酒倉內的牆身有好多霉菌,因為天氣比較濕熱,angel’s share 天使偷酒喝 (揮發的酒精)痴到牆上發出黎,留下「天使偷酒喝」嘅證據😆!特別印象深係荔枝桶、梅子桶、紅酒桶同泥煤威士忌原酒。威士忌熟成速度比蘇格蘭快約3倍,所以沒有年份提供,每支出廠酒約陳年5-6年,特別桶時間又不一様,另一個配方去造威士忌。
Attended Nantou Winery to visit Omar whisky distillery & tasted 12 whiskies there. I also visited the production line, trying the new make spirits and the wort, it’s a fun private tour! There r molds on the walls in the maturation room, as the climate here is hot & humid, the angel’s share (evaporation of alcohol from the cask) will stick to the wall and become molds. U can see how angels “steal” the whisky from the molds😆! For the whisky tasting, I found the special cask strength whiskies quite interesting, including Lychee cask, Green Plum cask, Red Wine cask & Peated cask. Whisky matured faster in Taiwan when compared to Scotland (roughly 3 x) , so u don’t see any years indicated on the label, they r on every 5-6 years of maturation. For special casks, the maturation is also different. Taiwan has another formula in making whiskies.
